procrastination
i’ve had this page open for almost three hours. i’ve been meaning to write since i came back from my holiday a week ago but somehow haven’t managed to motivate myself. i’ve had that sentence sat on the page for thirty minutes. i’ve checked facebook, my emails, the sky news app, and spent some time sat here looking at this screen.
the holiday was great, eight girls, all getting on, bar helen but she could cause trouble in an empty house. it’s not worth going in to except to say she cannot stand not being the centre of attention, and is a manipulative cow.
but the holiday, soooo much fun! the week, rather than long weekend, was such a good idea. we had crazy nights and chilled nights with cocktails and good food in equal measure. highlights include flashing pink minnie mouse ears, pink fluffy head boppers and superhero night, featuring the bride to be as she hulk – literally painted green from head to toe, and wearing a considerably green tinge for the rest of the holiday! i myself was supergirl. we had a batgirl and robin, catwoman, sexy iron man, wonderwoman, and zorro. poor zorro had her bag stolen, walked home alone crying, wiping her tears on her cape, and being consoled by strangers, ‘don’t cry zorro’. every time anyone uttered that sentence for the rest of the holiday we all dissolved into hysterics. thankfully zorro had cancelled her phone and seen the funny side of the story, which is more than the rest of us would have done had it happened to us.
the bride to be had a wonderful time, we threw her a surprise hen party one night. throughtout the day we had been winding her up about the plans, resulting in her insisting she wanted a fuss, not a scene making. she cried when we brought her into the apartment, all decorated with pgotos of her with her closest friends, banners, balloons, a giant inflatable penis, and the obligatory inflatable guy, affectionatelty named roger. she said she hadn’t been expecting the shindig at all. we got suitably drunk on shots then headed out, where we danced the night away and laura was the drunkest we’ve ever seen her, but had an absolute ball. there was one momeont where she looked arounf the bar we were in in absolute awe and wonder, as if she had no idea how she’d ended up there but she liked it!
i think we were all sad to leave, and were all pleasantly surprised that actually there had been very little drama considering there were eight of us, essentially two groups of friends who had never met. actually, apart from helen, there had been no drama at all. we were all there to celebrate our friend’s last weeks of freedom, we had plenty in common, and had a right laugh. so now we’re all excited for the liverpool hen do, a spa day, a meal at the albert dock, then drinks!
upon return to the uk, john landed on my doorstep with a huge bunch of sunflowers and gerbera daisies, absolutely beautiful, happy flowers, and completely unexpected but gratefully received. he had also taken the rest of the week off work so we could spend some time together which again is one of the most thoughtful things anyone has done for me in i don’t know how long. we had a lovely day locally, walking to hilbre island, a local nature reserve, and took a trip to wales to see a waterfall, almost died walking up the side of the mountain to get to the top in ridiculous heat, then decided it was worth it after all when we were the only two people up there, and we had a paddle in the pools, took some silly photos and generally giggled like children. family barbecue with my family on saturday, roast dinner with john’s mum and uncle on sunday, just an amazing few days, and it’s made going back to work this week all the harder after having such a lovely time off.
things are very very good right now, i feel incredibly happy and fulfilled!
xx
No way, I had a wonderful black dog named Zorro! That IS a funny story! Sounds like you had loads of fun! I am soo jealous right now as I have my head stuffed in books for finals and assignments. I started to read this entry and I thought, you’ve been home for a week already? Where was I? oh, yeah, school work.
