Christmas recap

Christmas Eve was great!  We went to visit Sean’s house, which is about 35 miles away.

Nathaneal arrived once we were already there.  He stepped out of the van with his mother, Blanche, and they walked toward me.  I yelled, "God, you’re HUGE!" to Nathaneal and ran up to him and we hugged.  Blanche was smiling a big smile.

During our visit, Tante Blanche, our aunt (who adopted our grandson), talked to me more than she ever has, in the entire time I’ve known her.  It was fantastic!  I wish I could explain how happy Nathaneal makes me, but I just don’t know any words.  There don’t seem to be any words in the world for it.  And some people say he looks like my son, which pleases me to no end…though I’m not sure how it might make our DAUGHTER, his birth mother, feel.  I hope she’d feel okay with it, since I am her father and all.  I think that the "step" flew out the window a long, long time ago with ALL of us.  I only use that word when I have to explain to someone how I, a 37 year old man, am grandfather to a 13 year old boy.  They can almost buy the 4 year old grandson, but they have trouble with the teenaged one. lol

Christmas was a wonderful experience.  I hope we get to see Nathaneal again for his birthday, which is in February.  He has grown even more.  Now, he is an inch or two taller than I am!!!!  It’s incredible!!!!  It’s also strange, because his voice hasn’t yet changed to match his growth.  He still sounds like a 13 year old, which kinda keeps me grounded, I admit.  And what a lovely 13 year old he is!  I am so so so proud of him!!!!

I will report more things of late in a later entry.  I just had to gush about Christmas Eve before too much more time passed!

Love you,

Herman
