I think it was a British group, anyway, that sang "We gotta get out of this place!"

We need to do that very thing.  I’m looking at the house, and I can’t stand it anymore.  It’s too much to do to fix it up, and we’re too goddamned broke.  We can’t do it!

Lately, we’ve thought about moving back to Corsicana again.  Mama and MH think that’s a bad idea.  I want to.  Well, MH SAID Mama thought it was a bad idea.  I think Mama might have just acquiesced to what MH said to stave off an argument.  We all have to do that sometimes.

Over Christmas, Johnny was totally PISSED at MH.  She didn’t even notice it.  She arranged for HIM to go pick up and move in a new dryer for Nanny.  Then, when he did it, he just HAD to connect it right then and there.  Couldn’t wait for anyone’s help.  I was good enough (not really…I hardly did anything, as it wound up).  Johnny wanted to slap MH.  She didn’t even know he was upset, I guess.  Didn’t seem to know it.

I wonder if MH is slipping off some edge that we can’t see.  I’ve been wondering for a while, but since this divorce thing with Frankie came up, she’s been……sliding away.  That’s the only way I know to put it.  Sliding away from us.

She’s not happy, and I hate that.  I also want to relieve part of her burden, which is another reason to move.

Get out of this place.  Would it be a mistake?  Maybe.  Would we have to live with it?  Yes.  So be it.  Whichever way it happens, it happens.
