My work life

I am officially a Wal-Mart Ass.  I mean Assoc.!!!!  You have to be careful how you abbreviate "associate", you know?

Since Monday, I have worked 36 hours.  Not bad for a re-entry to the workforce, but my poor, fat, WAY-out-of-shape body is paying for it.  The worst part, by far, is that there is a blister just where my toes attach to my left foot.  That hurts all the time.  My bones and muscles are already getting used to the miles of extra walking and lifting, pushing and bending, etc and etc, blah and dah.

I go by Jack out there.  Nobody is bothered by this, and that’s good.

One thing worries me big-time.  I keep slipping back in time while I’m working.  For some reason I cannot explain, I keep expecting everyone to call me "Rick", which I haven’t gone by since 1994 at K-Mart!!!!!  Also, sometimes I kinda zone out.  It’s a wonder I haven’t walked right out with the Robokart into the middle of Franklin Avenue.

I’m also getting a little TOO OCD about things.  I have found myself asking people, "Is there anything I can help you with?" when I’m not even at work.  My first instinct already when I’m at a store is to gather carts from the parking lot.  If I see a confused customer anywhere, I smile and ask if I can help them find something.

Typical of my life, eh?  I couldn’t have re-entered the workforce with a 15-20 hour job.  No, I have to START with almost full-time hours.  This next week, which starts today, actually, I work 40 hours on the dot.  If I’m still alive at the end of Monday, I’ll try to write again Tuesday, which is my first off-day.  A week of solid working and THEN an off-day. Whew!

Hey, it could be worse.

A LOT worse.

I have taken to periodically calling Tiffany and Elisabeth lately whenever I want.  They both seem to be happy enough with it.

We found out that one of the kids’ cousins (the kids I mean are our grandkids) and her children were murdered by the idiot man she loved.  He stabbed them to death and then burned the house.  If you like, you can look it up on the San Jose’ Mercury News site.  Her name was Leticia Chavez.  The man who killed her was Adam’s cousin.  Adam is the father of two of our grandchildren.  Needless to say, we are very frightened.  Every male in that family, with ONE exception (Adam’s brother Craig) have been locked up for domestic violence charges.  Adam was, too, and I’m very afraid for Tiffany and the children.  I want our family together NOW!!!!!

I don’t want to write more yet, because there is more depressing news about my niece Kadence.  She is doing well, but the situation is not.  I will catch you up next time.

Much love!

My Mikey, I love you forever times PI cubed plus one,

Your Jack
