Vent time!
"Okay. So here’s the deal.
If you are an adult, yes, I said an ADULT, and you tell kids/teenagers/whatever to come to you when there is a problem that they cannot solve, you do not say "okay." and then do nothing.
You just don’t do that. Especially when it’s happened MANY times. There comes a point in time where they stop putting their trust in you. And then when they try to handle said problems on their own, things get even stickier than they would have been if you had just dealt with the problem in the first place.
tl;dr: BE THE LEADERS AND ADULTS YOU ARE AND DEAL WITH PROBLEMS WHEN THEY COME TO YOU.
/endrant."
I just posted that on FB. Here’s the story
So I went to NF’s football game tonight, and had a great time. But at the end of the game, I saw that Amanda was very frustrated. She said that there was a kid named Brian (who I remembered was a dick last year) who was being mean to the other kids, and that she had went to Sigler and Remus about it previously but they hadn’t done anything. I told her to talk to them one last time, and if they still didn’t do anything, talk to the principal.
Then she started crying. That’s when I realized how bad the situation was. She said she didn’t see the point because she knew nothing would be done. So I went and got Remus and told him to talk to her. She said she explained it… and all he kept saying was "okay."
That is NOT. FUCKING. OKAY. You are an adult, in a position of authority, who has had these kids and these young leaders put their trust in you to help them when there is a problem they can’t solve on their own. Don’t feed them to the wolves! Do your damn job!
