More Spark – Okay to Start Small

Here are some ways to start small. Choose one of these goals and see how long you can do it every day *:

  • Get up without the snooze
  • Drink 8 glasses of water
  • Eat 2 veggies
  • Eat 2 fruits
  • Eat 2 complex carbs
  • Write in a journal
  • Take a walk
  • Put up motivating pictures
  • Gather motivating music
  • Tell a friend about weight loss goals
  • Avoid using negative words that could discourage you

1. I admit that I am powerless when it comes to food and my life has become unmanageable.

2. I believe that SparkPeople can help to restore my sanity.

3. I make the decision to turn my will and my life over to low calorie, low fat food and exercise.

4. I will make a searching and fearless moral inventory of myself and my motives.

5. I will admit to myself and to another human being the exact nature of my bad eating habits and choices.

6. I am entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7. I humbly asked God to remove my shortcomings.

8. I will make a list of all foods that harm me and derail me off my path. I am willing to remove them all from my diet.

9. When I fail I will allow myself forgiveness not recriminations and move forward not dwelling on past mistakes.

10. I will continue to take personal inventory and when I falter I will promptly admit it.

11. I will continually seek out ways to improve my health and well being so I can continue to make good choices in food, drink and exercise.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, I will try to carry this message to other food addicts, and to practice these principles in all my affairs.

RYN: Training your own dog, wow, that is very impressive. I know I don’t have the time so I will leave it to the Professionals!
