First Mother’s Day

My first Mother’s Day was so wonderful!

Friday we went over to Roger’s parents and went out to eat at the bar/grill right there. We had left the Explorer with his Dad the weekend before for him to fix (he’s a mechanic), so we were finally getting it back. There was only one day we had a little monkeying around to do with only having one car. Wednesday when my mom came here to babysit. I took her car to work. Roger swung by my work and traded keys with me, drove home in my mom’s car. She was able to go home from there. Thursday we would’ve done the same but it was raining and Roger’s work was cut short. He was home at 11:30, I had to leave at 11:30. Nice thing about cell phones, he was able to tell me he’d be home in time. I was able to tell my mom she didn’t need to come over.

Anywho, Saturday morning we went to Home Depot in the Explorer. I was thinking we must need more mulch, that’s why we were in the Explorer. Then later I realize, we still have about 10 bags in our driveway. We needed a couple bags of rock. Then Roger was looking at fountains. I had said awhile ago I’d like one. I had a tipped over whiskey barrel. I had plants there, it kinda looked like a pot of plants that tipped over. When the wood is rotted, we took it out. I was thinking of a little pool with water running into it. But then figured a little pool of water isn’t safe for Bruce. So he’s looking at these fountains then he asked me which one I liked. I said "well, they’re kinda expensive, we don’t need one". Then he said "Well Bruce and I already bought you one!" I was excited. I liked that I didn’t pick something out for him to buy. He had it on hold there, that’s why we needed the Explorer. On Wednesday after he traded cars with me is when he bought it. But it wouldn’t fit in my mom’s car. Yay!

Then we were at my mom’s at noon. My brother’s family came over. Then we went to Como Zoo, which is a free zoo, also has a wonderful flower conservatory (my dad didn’t want to come with). The weather was chilly and the wind was strong and from the north, so cold. Lots of things were inside. My mom wanted to treat us all to go on the Merry Go Round. Roger and my brother didn’t go on, took some pictures instead. I rode on a slow horse with Bruce!

After the zoo we went to eat at Acapulco on the way back my mom’s. Then we went back to my parents, so did my brother and the girls. SIL and Josh went home to study. We stayed until 10 maybe then headed home.

Sunday we were at Roger’s parents’ close to noon. They had brunch for all of us, my family and BIL’s mother was there. MIL gave me a gift which I just love! She gave me a stepping stone with a lizard on it, it has sequence for the lizard. Say’s "Bless this Family" and she wrote on it "Happy 1st Mother’s Day". She also gave me a necklace that has a diamond heart, a little heart on top of it, inside the big heart is a mother/child.  I love it! I don’t know when I can wear it though. I can’t wear it at work and Bruce is a grabber.

After awhile a bunch of us went for a walk to the park. That worked out great cause Bruce needed a nap and he did in his stroller. We stayed there awhile.

Monday Bruce woke up with a cold. Still fighting it. He seems better but not quite. Then I got hit with it. I guess we probably overdid it last weekend and with the weather being chilly. I did have him dressed warm. Oh well. 9.5 months and his first cold.

Glad you had a Happy 1st Mother’s Day! I think I got a fountain type thing for my 1st one too! It’s a boy and a girl with running water. Keira loves it! I have it on my front step! Hoping to put it on the side of the house once we get our fence up!
