Still Fussy*

Bruce still isn’t sleeping well. It seems like as soon as I lay him down he starts crying. He hasn’t done this in a long time. Last night he woke up crying after an hour of sleeping, I was so close to falling asleep myself. Which I have caught the Thanksgiving cold. I calmed him down and had him asleep within 10 minutes. I said to Roger, "this is what we get for going out". Yesterday he did wake at at 6am which is early.

Then today Roger tells me that he cried a few times during the night but stopped right away. I didn’t notice those.

Even getting him to nap he’s being a little difficult, it’s best to do it in the swing. But he still pouts.

Tonight I put him to bed a little early, since I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow, instead of 4:40 on Wednesdays. Roger said he has to leave at 5:20 instead of 5:30. That’s good that he knows that tonight instead of at 4:40 when he calls his boss.

So I’m not sure exactly what Bruce’s issue is. You know we think we know what they’re thinking but not for sure. I think he’s still upset about Saturday night and waking up and we weren’t there. Also it doesn’t help that we can see that his two bottom teeth are about to pop thru.

* Just as I hit save Bruce was crying, he had been asleep almost an hour. I had to rock him, then when I lay him down, I move to the rocking chair where he can’t see me but I can see if he’s moving. I lay him down and he starts pouting. I go over to him and he looks so sad, then he sees me and he smiles. It took quite awhile to get him down. I’d have him asleep in my arms but as soon as I lay him down he’s not awake. The last time you could just see he’s sooo tired, he’d smile at me, do like a couch cough that’s a cry (sounds like "eeehh eeh" kinda sounds like a cough). I thought maybe I got the baby oragel at my shower, I must not of. I’m just wondering if it is his teeth that is waking him up.

Now it’s 5am. This was the time I was going to wake Bruce up but turns out Roger doesn’t have to work. Since I was ready soon, I made me toast. I need to go pump now. I wanted to wait closer to leaving time. Hopefully tomorrow my mom babysits. My aunt has a Christmas gift that she wanted Bruce to have now since Christmas is still 3 weeks away. It’s a Bumbo chair. I didn’t know if I really wanted one. I told my mom to keep an eye out for it at the Thrift Store since she goes with this aunt every week. My mom mentioned it to her to keep an eye out for it and she went and bought it at Target. Very nice of her. I like that she wants him to have it now, to get more use of it.

Bruce is 4 months, 1 weeks & 6 days old

He could be going through the 4 month wakeful period or sleep regression or whatever it’s called. He’s at the age where he’s on the cusp of learning so many new skills that the middle of the night is the perfect time to practice them 😉
