Thanksgiving

I had to work Thanksgiving Day which sucked but I didn’t really want to give it up since it’s time and a half. So far I’ve only worked 2 Sundays since being back. Sundays are time and a half for me. I had to ask for one off since Roger was hunting. I asked for this weekend off since it’s our best friend’s 40th birthday celebration. We’ve all hit our big birthdays together, for us it’s 30, them it’s 40. She’s the last one. I CAN’T not be a part of this. But that means giving up working a time and a half day. Roger did ask why I took Saturday off too since the party isn’t until the night. I just don’t think I could do it waking up at 4:30am for work and staying out til bar closes AND sleeping where Bruce is. Roger’s parents are babysitting, we’re going to spend the night there. Kinda my whole thing about a sitter is so we don’t have to get up in the morning. Oh well. MIL will get up with him, but I’m sure we’ll be up shortly after.

Anywho. Thursday we went over to my brother’s, where my dad’s side all was. There was close to 20 of us. There’s one thing about Bruce that I don’t know how to tell people before it happens. He needs to observe a little bit before people coming at him. We walked in the door and right away people charged the door. Bruce started SCREAMING. We quickly went into the bedroom and got him comforted. I think I fed him, since we were going to eat soon. Well they started without us anyways. When we came back out, it was nice everyone was eating, so they were occupied. Bruce just looked around. Then he’s fine.

Friday we went up to the cabin. The weekend went well. Except, we go down to the campfire. My one aunt comes running up the hill and grabs Bruce out of my arms. I tried saying "wait a few minutes" but she had him and was gone. He cried and cried. She says she’s fine. Honestly I don’t care about YOU, I care that now MY baby is upset and it could’ve been prevented. He was getting a little cranky anyways. Wasn’t a huge fan of the snowsuit. When I got him back, we couldn’t calm him down, so we had to go back to our cabin. Right away he’s all smiles.

Later on we went over to a different aunt’s cabin (next door) and I had him on my lap for awhile looking out. Then this aunt wanted to hold him, so she did. Bruce was fine. I was saying "he did fine cause he got a few minutes to see her, instead of someone he doesn’t know just grab him".

All the grabbing really makes me anxious (I think that’s the word I want to use). It bothers me cause it makes Bruce upset. Its not his fault. I wish people would just come a little slower.

Every baby is different. I can tell with cousin Elena (5 weeks older) has no problem to anyone holding her. Bruce can be ok with others holding him, he just needs a minute! The more familiar he is with someone he doesn’t need that time. Like my mom, he smiles right away when he sees her.

Bruce is 4 months, 1 week & 2 days old

Both the kids have done that, Max is a crier with new people right now. He cried for MIL the other day but he hadn’t seen her in 5 weeks. Thankfully it’s a phase they grow out of pretty quickly
