it doesn’t have to be

I used to think my boyfriend was a little bit crazy. Hell maybe I’m the crazy one, but really he’s making more and more sense lately. As you know he’s a Rasta. If you’re not familiar with the religion, it’s based on Christian themes and well, I’m not going to explain it all right now. Google it.

Anywhore, Rastas call America and the Western Civilization Babylon. Tosh is always posting things about Babylon and wisdoms of Jah and of Prince Tofari. I listen to his rants about how bad people are as a whole and how sick of this world he is.

Maybe it’s like Stockholm syndrome and I’ve just heard about it enough to start believing it. But really I don’t think that’s it. I think I’ve started to have enough of the self serving, self centered American way of life. What if we aren’t the greatest? What if we aren’t the most powerful. And really, does money and weaponry really make you the best?

Wouldn’t you rather have a legacy of being kind and just, of being just well, good? I would. Money has never been a big thing to me. I have no need for a gun.

Everyday I listen to people on the phone talking about this person didn’t get back to me and blah blah blah. Apparently, you are the only person that matters.

When did people stop caring about fellow people? When did we become such ignorant chunks of flesh? It saddens me and almost makes me happy that I have no children to make live in this world.

Our Mother is vomiting oil, her blood is blackened with it. Her lungs full of chemicals that we spew without thought. When will enough be enough. When will it no longer be one person here and one person there that cares about what’s going on and what we’re doing?

I’m just about ready to leave this place of greed and putrid power. I don’t mean going into the fade, I mean just getting out of the hamster wheel and living life.

I used to believe that people were good and kind by nature. But really what is our nature? To be spiteful, vain and mean? It’s beginning to be that is just the way it is.

It doesn’t have to be.

Agree. Very well put. Most people just don’t give a flying crap about other people… they’re just out for number one. It stinks.

And I’m sorry, but I blame a LOT of that degeneration on the current generation. You know, the one that idolizes Lohan, Hilton and Snookie. *Barf* I’ve heard “ME ME ME!!!!” from more of the twentysomethings and younger than I think I’ve ever heard from anyone prior to this series of “adults”. Which is why I’m no longer seeking a career in counseling. I can just see the liquid skull I’d have.
