Rambling
I started this new diet 2 days ago – The Rice Diet. Although it’s called the "rice" diet, you eat much more than rice; however, there is no meat for the first 2 weeks, I can live with that. Since I do love carbs and vegetables, it seems to me that maybe this is one diet that can prevail. It is low sodium and low fat. The diet has been around since 1939 so that’s why I probably never heard of it before – seems like only new "fad" diets tend to be highly publicized. My weight is a concern for health reasons (and I’d like to look better too) and blame the stress of my job during the year before I retired as the cause of me packing on the pounds that I just can’t seem to lose . . . (who doesn’t blame something). Well, enough on that today.
I was excited this morning to try out my new coffee pot. The old one was a 2-cup drip that had begun making coffee with a burned taste, UGH, and the new one is 10-cup. I only drink 2 cups a day (which is actually 4 cups because the coffee pot measures a cup at 5oz – hey, isn’t that a wine measurement ;->), but the deal was that I had these American Express points on my account and I never use that card anymore so what the heck I cashed the points in and got a new coffee pot. It was like getting a gift! Well, I’m not disappointed. The java is delicious this morning after weeks of the burned tasting stuff.
It’s not always the infrequent stellar events of life, but the ordinary, little things that make up a happy day every day and give us more lasting pleasure.
