Traffic Jam
We were driving along and suddenly,
we had to slow our steady pace
until we had to stop entirely.
We were held up in
a mass of vehicles,
surrounding and enclosing us in
on all sides.
I could not see anything
but a sea of mixed colours
all dull under the granite sky.
We did not proceed forward for ages
when, like a slug, the entire mass
began to progress forward
baby step at a time
until we began again at our
origional pace and were
stopped by the exact same
multitude of dull metal.
Once more, we remained in the
same place, like a stranded
ship, and it seemed like
we started over again, but
just like the last time
we began with baby steps
while i wondered if once
again a couple of kilometers up
ahead there would be
the same swarm of insipid
shades,
encompassing us
for good.
