Surprise business trip
After cursing the american embassy so many times for how hard it is to get a visa to the sates, I guess I should now thank them.
The day before yesterday the secretary at the paper asked me if I have a visa to the states. I said yes, and had the suspicion that there was a trip brewing (very clever of me, yes), but then I was so stressed at work that I completely forgot about it.
Yesterday I got called to the boss’ office. He said there was a trip for which someone had to leave this Friday… and I was the only one who could have the visa ready in time (I would rather have been chosen for merit, but oh well). I asked where we were going and that’s when things turned weird.
Turns out this bigshot Israeli business man who has a few screws loose but a ton of money, has invited 3 reporters to an unknown destination in the states to announce a huge deal that he’s signing. We’ll be leaving on Friday (day after tommorow! yikes!) for New York, and then we’ll be flown to some unknow destination in his private plane (!!). They can’t tell us where, because then we’ll know which company he signed the big deal with. Then we get flown to ew York again on Sunday and hopefully have 2 days completely free until we fly back to Israel.
How do ypu pack if you have no idea where you’re going. If you had no idea that you were going anywere and all of your cloths are in the laundry? If your only goo acket has 2 buttons missing, and no match in any button store all across town? If you had a party at your house planned for Tuseday, a wedding to plan for late August, horrible stress at work that will only pile up when you’re gone, and a boyfriend you haven’t slept with for days because of said stress at work and now there doesn’t seem to be any time to fit *that* in!
Agh!!!!!!
Well, as you can see I don’t really have much time to spare but I had to share the weirdness with you and I will tell all when I get back.
This is so exciting! But it little strange… I hope you end up having a great time… wherever you’re going! I can’t believe they won’t tell you!

O.K. I live in the USA and maybe I can help with the packing. Generally right now it is spring which means mild temps.Depending on where you are going it couls also mean thunderstorms. Since this is such a big hus hush deal and they are bringing in reporters from other countries to cover it,I beleive it could concern the oil industry which means a warmer climate. (Will continue in next note)

So to continue the ramblings I would pack a light jacket, Short sleeved shirts, some rain gear, maybe a heavier jacket (just in case) really what ever spring weight clothes you have. I don’t know where you are traveling from, so I don’t know how how normally dress but just remember light weight but somewhat warm because it does still get chilly at night. Hope that helps.

Weather forecast from Friday to Monday is highs around 22 c and lows (at night)less than 10c. It drops significantly when the sun is down. Not supposed to rain, but it can change any moment. You need dark colored pants, a cardigan, light tops that sit well under a jacket and a couple of those. I see shopping in your immediate future. A trench coat might be handy, but who in Israel has that?
