conflict.

I have a conflict.  Many, really, but all revolving around this one thing.

A month or so ago I was told about this job at a local farm that does big events like weddings etc. The job is for Marketing/Advertising Coordinator and Event Coordinator.  As many of you know, I took advertising in college and I’m very interested in becoming a wedding planner.  I plan events now, but they’re hella boring events.  They’re all well and good and fun for the kids etc. but I like the design of events, the coordinating colours, the decor, stationery… In short, booking a clown to make balloon animals and get Elvis to sing the national anthem is not my idea of portfolio material.

In any case, I got a call today, finally, from the owner of the farm, asking me to come sometime this week for my interview.  I called him back and we set a time: tonight at 6pm.  Good an bad about this: Good – I don’t have time to psych myself out.  Bad – I’m having an unfortunate hair day.

This is also very bad timing.  I have to work all weekend for our semi annual manager’s meeting happening on Monday & Tuesday, then the following week I’m on business from Monday – Saturday.  3 weeks later we’ve already booked my flights/hotel/rental car for another business trip over the weekend.  It’s supposed to be a busy few weeks, but now put this on top of it?  I might blow my boss up from the fury I cause in her.  God.  She’s yelling at some girl from merchandising who’s only following orders from someone else who my boss is actually angry with.  For no good reason other than she’s stressed right now and has been staring at her computer for 6 hours straight writing an agenda that keeps changing.  Man I get it.  I’d get irritable too.  But no need to yell at the poor girl who has no idea why you’re angry, and no answers to your fury of questions.

Besides this, I have a pending mortgage agreement coming.  Most institutions wouldn’t take me based on my spotty employment record.  I can’t seem to sit still, you see.  And now that someone takes me… I up and change jobs again?  Questionable.

So I called my boyfriend to talk about all this nonsense and he seems to think that I should call the bank and ask them hypothetically if this were to happen, what might happen with my mortgage approval?  And that they’ll be fine with it because I’m trustworthy and wonderful.  He’s entirely too optimistic.

I called my dad to discuss and he thinks I should sit tight and not change jobs until I take possession of my house and then do whatever I want.  But definitely not "rock the boat" now with the bank.

I’m just going to go to the interview and discuss and present my problem to them and see if perhaps I can work out some sort of part time arrangement until I take possession and then I can start full time.  Who knows?  He’s pretty cheap, so this might be good for him.  Might be good for me too.  Get my feet wet, learn the ropes for a bit.  Then when I come in full time I would be pretty comfortable already.

Being an adult is complicated and annoying.  I miss school, with its clear cut rules and deadlines.

I know! my parents always said school is the best years of your life – now I have all these responsibilities and bills to pay! And rent is such a waste but its cheaper than a house in my country anyway! One day! haha 🙂 congrats on the interview 🙂
