14 hours of work

All in one day.

But today was kind of worth it. I had one of those days that really makes me

a.) appreciate my job, my position, and my employment

b.)  realize that maybe i am actually good at what i do.

The morning started with my regular weekly Leadership Team meeting. ‘Twas nice because the VP was there and she told me what a great job I am doing. My facility is the only facility in the organization that is above budgeted census. Not only are we above, but we are at 100%. We ended last year with a census around 83%. So DEFINITELY awesome. She told me that she is sure the spike in census was due to my marketing efforts.

It was nice to hear, even though I don’t necessarily agree.

Then, I was off to lunch at the corporate headquarters. I was origionally scheduled to go to lunch downtown with my account exec for one of my advertisers, but I had to cancel as this lunch proved more important. The Chairman of the Board from a fortune 500 company was on campus.

I was invited to the lunch to talk about our work with youth.

By the end of the lunch, they had offered my program a $50,000 donation.

I’m pretty much mostly a rockstar at this point.

Then I work, work, work as the day goes on.

And at 6:00 pm (now having been working for 10 hours) I head to a dinner gala in downtown. We were the platinum sponsors and got to sit front and center during the programing and meal. I invited 8 of the other key leadership at the organization to join me. Was a lovely evening.

It was all over by 10:00 pm. As I was on my way home thinking about what a fantastic job I have (and what fantastic opportunities I have) I got a text message from one of my coworkers: another Marketing Director that has been at the organization for over 15 years was fired. And this is huge news because he should have been fired long ago. He used to hire outside agencies to do his work for him and then pass it off as his own. He also used to plagerize my work. And he did many awful, horrible things.

So it was good news that I was finally rid of him. He tends to cause me more work. It also means that with him gone, I am the person with the longest tenure in the entire Marketing Department, and I have only been there 3 1/2 years. It’s kinda cool because the other people (that have a shit ton more experience than I do) often come to me for advice and information. Makes me feel like I know what the hell I am doing.

So all-in-all, it was a good day.

I am not working tomorrow.

Chewie has court to ammend child support. He keeps paying a billion dollars and while he is unemployed, that doesn’t work out so much.

Wish him luck.

Hi five and kudos! Hey… I think you’re a rock star without the $50,000 donation,…… but i guess it helps. 🙂

Congrats on all the good work! Feeling you on the child support thing. We went through that with Kory and finally the judge saw that him paying $460/mo was silly since he barely had anything left. He now pays $120. BIIIIG difference.

Mwahaha! I don’t know who’s noticed the nape one yet. I am so awesome. Am happy I went with you to do it. Find me on Wii!
