OD life becomes real life – full story

So I finally took the plunge.

Perception became reality.

This weekend for the first time ever, I met 2 people I met on OD. They both live about 20 minutes from me, and even though I have been on here for 6 months, we have never met. (I think part of that has to do with none of us having a car – at least I like to believe that anyway).

I met Present Progressive and Sweadish-Pea two of my earliest noters. We had talked on the phone a trillion times and even had a few hap-hazard attempts to exchange snail mail between one another. We had also gotten quite skilled at the art of emailing.

Charlie and Jillyanne. Two of the coolest people in the world.

So. I have met like 2 people every from the internet. It was always nerve wracking, a bit scary (freaks!) and stressful. You never know what the people are ACTUALLY going to think and yet somewhow you care…Both times ended up being pretty positive. One person I am still close friends with and the other is my ex fiance. I met him GOD like, TEN YEARS AGO. Seriously. I was freshly 16. Did you guys know they had internet 10 years ago?

That was back before people had discovered the dangers of meeting people online…

Damn. My ride is here. More later.

*******now continued******

So Charlie and Jillyanne had told me they were going to the Gay 90s, a club downtown. I love the 90s, and I hadn’t been there forever. A while beack I had talked to both of them about going once I got my license back. We were talking on the phone Friday night and I was being jealous and bored that they were going. Then they said "Hey, take a cab downtown and join us!"

So I did. When I got downtown all by myself, I called Jillyanne and told her I was coming up the escalator. She came out of the restaurant they were in and met me at the top. She was beautiful and glowing. She reminds me of a 20s jazz singer. Just classy, jazzy, and stunning. We hugged and now it was time to meet Charlie and his highschool friend Heather. We walked in the restaurant and there they were.

Charlie was also very attractive. Sexy is an appropriate description. In some ways he looked sort of how I expected: dark features, nice skin, and of course nice lips and chin. But in other ways, I didn’t know what to expect since I had never seen a picture of him. It was definitely a pleasant suprise. Jillyanne and Charlie make one damn good looking couple.

After standing at the table for a few moments awkwardly, Heather moved over and offered me a seat. We chatted a little bit and I was fairly laid back. Heather asked me if I was nervous to meet Charlie or Jillyanne for the first time and suprisingly, the answer was no. As opposed to the two experiences in the past, this time, I feel like these people know more about me than probably anyone else since they have read my diary and know the way my brain works. It’s much easier than meeting someone with a blank slate. It seems as though we have already accepted each other for who we are and there was no need to impress.

So anyway…we eventually made it to the 90s. The 90s is cool because there are a million kinds of people there, black, white, asian, old, young, gay, straight, urban, suburban…it just has the best mix of people. There are also a couple different dance areas playing different types of music. We spent most of the night in the techno room. Charlie was an awesome dancer. Heather and Jillyanne also danced quite a bit and could keep a beat. I didn’t dance too much for various reasons. I was watching for a good part of it though, danced minorly here and there, and was talking to random people. (I am a social freak like that) I think I got 2 girls phone numbers that night, two email addresses, one myspace group to join, one guy that said he wanted to come home with me, and one man that said if he wasn’t there with his girlfriend, he would dance with me. Nice. Oh and one guy walked by me and grabbed me around the waist and kept walking. One lesbian woman kissed me on the cheak while she was sitting next to her girlfriend.

It was all very interesting. But I love it. I am an attention whore.

Anyways, we all left, and Heather was kind enough to drive me back home so I didn’t have to spend another $25 on a cab. We all hung out in my apartment for a little while. Jillyanne fell asleep on the couch, Charlie put stuff on his skin that made his eyes burn, and I played Guitar Hero. They went home around 3:30 in the morning.

I am really glad we got to meet and look forward to spending more time with them – especially when I get my car back. I also want them to meet Chewie.

But let me say this. Charlie and Jillyanne are two of the most genuine, sincere, real people there are. They are so vibrant and they appreciate life. They are the kind of people you can’t be around without smiling and that make you feel welcome no matter what. They are generous and caring. Thanks for inviting me out with you guys!

Hope there are many more times to come…

I met someone on the internet when I was 13. When I was 18 I went to New Zealand and met him. It didn’t work but it was probably the most honest love I ever had. No real world judgements just your real personality and a keyboard. I still miss him. About once a year I troll chet rooms hoping I could feel that again. It never happens.. once in a life time I guess.

The first person I met online was in 1994. Oh wait…that’s not even right. I actually met a couple of people back in the late-80s, when there were BBSs (Bulletin Board Systems). I won’t even get into that. I’ve probably been on over a dozen “blind dates” with people I met online. That was back in the day before most people had digital cameras, so most people did NOT have pictures to exchange. I will never again meet anyone without a picture.

lol yeah i still have the same email from 10 years ago! i’ve only met 2 people from the internet as well. it is crazy!!!! my best friend would talk to guys all the time on the net and one time she had these guys from illnois visit all to here (ohio) that was crazy. we were 17.

ryn: loved that comment. hilarious.

the internet was around, like, a decade ago? *stares blankly* it’s so cool that you guys met up. i wish i lived near the three of you, but maybe someday we’ll meet up anyways 🙂

don’t be scared of the internet, not everyone’s a predator! especially not me, oh no no no. especially not me. 😛 RYN: it’s a beautiful song

that sounds fun =]

Charli says that calling him an awesome dancer does not do him justice. He is AMAZING! Now you know! We should definitely hang out more. I want to play guitar hero with you and chat about girly stuff because I can never do that with Charli. I haven’t worked on your letter lately because I have been so incredibly stressed out at work I can’t focus on anything. Poor Charli that’s all he hears about.

Turns out: I’ve met seven people from OD. Turns out: I’m the only creepy sex addict. Not like that is a bad thing. Celibacy blows the goat.

RYN: (shakes his ass in your OD while wearing said garment)

November 21, 2007

(torments your spirit by continuing the ass-shaking) Ya know, some women would pay for this.

RYN: What? Are the ugly? They’re quick drying, pack down tiny, and the most elite badasses in the US military wear them.

November 21, 2007

RYN: Because I run in them, do karate in them, etc. I’m an active guy and cotton boxers are baggy (excessive fabric for something nobody sees) and hold ballsweat like a fat chick holds calories in her thighs. Yeah, I run in them at night… just my RPs and running shoes. I’d totally run by your house, too. HAHAHA.
