Something Different

I have added a couple of new friends to my circle, not that I am ever without friends, but last week they both invited me to go with them to the "boat" for crab legs on Friday night.  Early in the week I didn’t really think I wanted to go, but yesterday during my twelve hour shift, the idea of going sounded like fun.  So after texting back and forth a few times, both said they didn’t mind waiting until I finished my shift at 6pm.  So shortly after 7, we headed out to Indiana to the Hollywood Casino.

This is the first time I have ever been to a real full fledged Casino.  My only gambling experience has been on a cruise ship.  And then my limit stays very low.  They said that they neither one really gambled much and whatever we wanted to do was fine.  So we got there and went in I bought a round of beers for us and we started off to see the sights.  We we found a band that was playing some old rock n roll and we found ourselves a seat.  Along about 10 we headed off to the buffet for crab legs.  Wow, somewhat pricey, but not for the amount of crab legs that we devoured.  To top it off, the desert buffet had carrot cake, whick is my allllll time favorite cake.  After stuffing ourselves like pigs, we headed home.  All I can say is I’m glad I decided to go.  Nothing like good music, good beer and good food, not to mention hanging out with some new friends.  They are both younger than I, but it allows me to feel younger too.

And when I got to work this afternoon, my old "best friend" Brenda stopped to see me.  We haven’t had a lot of contact the past few years and don’t see eye to eye on some things these days, but it was a good visit.  I do miss her and our friendship will always remain,   and as it has in the past, we will rally again.  Over the last few years I have gotten to be more outspoken and she didn’t like that.  So we drifted apart.  Oh well, enough said about that.

That’s about it for me today, nothing new, other than bro, nephew and I managed to get the rotted bathroom floor torn out and replaced and set a new 17 in "throne."  As I age, things for my comfort are more necessary.  And now my official title is "yourHighass."  Okay, it was funny when I said it the first time.  Maybe you just had to be there.

Thats all I’ve got to say, just remember to be good to yourselves and each other.  Our time here on earth is limited, and I’d rather be remembered for something good.  Make someone feel good today and give them hope for a better tomorrow.  God bless.

I’m am DYING over your new title!!! TOO funny! Your night out sounded fun to me. 🙂 I’ve had friends drift away because they couldn’t handle my outspokenness. I figure that’s their choice. I’m still me, no matter what. RYN: I dunno, Soph, but it seems to me that we just draw closer in our older years. We fought like cats and dogs in our younger years (still can get testy with each other at times) but hung in there. People give up so easy and they miss this part. I hope that some of what I convey will help others not to become discouraged.
