Mary pressing her case~

Jesus thanked the rabbi for his time and wisdom.

After leaving the synagogue with Mary still holding onto Jesus, her heart was bursting with joy. "So, what did you think about the rabbi’s advice, Jesus?"

"Mary, he was telling you that he suspects who I am, and that he thinks that it would be a fine idea for you to be one of my followers, one of my disciples, in my future ministry."

Mary face only brightened as she said, "That’s how you interpreted what he said, ‘there is nothing shameful about a lady walking in the shadows of a holy man?"

"Indeed, Mary. And I agree with him."

"Jesus, surely you know that he didn’t used the word marriage, because he didn’t want to embarass you. And we can easily see that, after I told him that you feel that you can’t have a wife because you wouldn’t want to have her walking in your shadows. That’s why he said that there is no shame about walking in the shadows of a holy man."

"But what about the rabbi’s comment about me being the wisest person in town?"

"Even the wisest person on earth can still learn, yes?"

"Yes, Mary. That’s very true. I have learned to never underestimate your intense passion to capture the Son of God."

"Ah, Jesus, have I told you that I love you, lately."

"Every day, Mary."

Mary’s mind was spinning and it was causing Jesus some dizziness, cause he knew what she would be saying next. Here ‘it’ comes!

"Ok. Jesus. I had spent a lot of time on your problem. And I think that I have discovered a possible solution…You have three more years till you start your public ministry. Well, you can marry me now. In between all of your meditation time with your father, which will be considerable, I can have you all to myself! So, by the time that you start your public ministry, I will be more than happy to be left way behind in your shadows. I will be so filled with your spirit after three years, I probably will want nothing more to do than just adore you from afar.  Of course, if during the tough times, if you need my special touch, I’ll always be there ministering to you, Jesus.  I think that I’m offering you a pretty good deal.  If I were you I would grab it, before I changed my mind.  I might decide that why settle for jsut three years of having you all to myself? Why not have you to myself, and of course, sharing you with the father, for the rest of my life? Holding onto you whereever you go; ready to eat of the Words that comes from the father; ready to encourage, to offer healing, to comfort you, to protect you?"

"Oh, you will even protect me, huh Mary?"

"You can take that to the bank, Jesus. No one will abuse my beloved without me doing something about it."

"Mary….since you are graciously giving me time to think of my future, I will give it much thought."

Ok, Jesus. I sure do give you much to think of, huh?"

"Yes, Mary. And you are always in my thoughts, Mary."

"Well, what more could a humble servant like me ask for, than to be in God’s thoughts?"

"I’m sure that you will tell me, Mary."

And Mary proceeded to do just that as she strolled along, with Mary still holding on to her Lord and Master!
