Whitney Houston~ edited

I thought that I would write about her. And share a few links of her music that I have listened to, recently.

It was clear to see that she was a gift from the moment that she burst upon the scene. I bought her first cd back in 1985. Her voice was easy to fall in love with..not to mention her dazzlingly smile, her purity of soul, her charm, and of course her physical beauty.

She had come from a gospel background and it showed in much of her music. Although I didn’t always care for her music. And although most of her music that she recorded was ‘secular’ music, I think that she could touch any soul, wherever they were….especially when she sang songs like, "I will always love you."  I usually have chills down my spine..or tears in the eyes when I listen to that song…to the voice that soars like an eagle high in the sky.  And I think of some of the words in the song that say things like, "I hope that life treats you kind."

Maybe for 30 years of her life, life did treat her kind. Then she made some bad decisions that eventually led to such a sad ending for her on earth. Although how she will enrich heaven with her gift!  I find it sad to read comments on the www from judgmental, or people who display how love-less they feel. Whitney knew the Lord. She knew that the Lord loved her, even with all of her sins. So, I can’t wait to get to heaven to be entertained by her!

The following is a short clip with Pavorotti, Sting, Elton John and Whitney:

I didn’t follow her career, but did love to hear her sing! And, yes she was a beautiful woman with such a lovely smile! Love, Liz

I have grown up having her singing in the radios all those years of the 90’s. It was the BEST YEARS for me since the school days and up to the college later! I cannot forget all of her top songs and “I Will Always You” is the best I think of her! Take care! *HUGS*

It’s nice that you added some of her gospel songs. She so reminds me of Elvis who started out singing for the Lord, too. May the Lord have mercy on them and all of us.

ryn: sending Ming to heaven (borrowing your words) was and is still hard on the emotion. The worst thing for me was the clinic had no burying service and carrying back Ming’s body was too much. But I did it because they were going to throw him into the dustbin. He was buried in the yard and Claire and I put some flowers on the grave. So, you have quite an experience in sending pets to heaven. Yes, it takes time to get over it. Btw, how old is Peanut now?

Reading sweetsanctuari’s note reminds me of Elvis’s rendition of How Great Thou Art. LOVE his singing of that; oddly enough, this morning was the first time I’d ever sung it in the church I’m attending now. RYN: Yeah, but had I been born on St.Patricks Day, my mother would have had to pick a different day to die 🙂 Maybe she would have just reversed it and done it on the Ides. However, much better that she die after my day than before. I was greatly relieved she waited.
