And the snowy hills that seemed to retreat to a Shangri-La in the distance, rolling hills of desert farm pastureland. This was the Dakotas, but as the boy looked out his car window he could see these snow covered farmland hills retreat into a Sarah like visage, the sky with the sun melting down on the snow blending in, to a distant looking Oasis.
Was this America now or a different world; one in which the ideas of the old were blending in with the new, and now imagination was now a part of everything?  The boy had heard of novels like Dune, the desert spice planet of Arrakis, but now this old home farmland was beginning to feel like an Arrakis. A new age world was emerging, and here he saw the seascapes of a new country, it felt so much better and real. All of the old rules and laws were disappearing but the boy had a feeling that new rules of order would have to replace it.
The snow misting up off of the hills into a hazy sky, seemed to conjur up scenic imagery of sand in the sky. But this was snow that the sun was starting to beam down on and created a visual feeling of 1001 Arabian nights, and Ali Baba sherazade. A black wolf gazing off into the horizon of snow sand mists into the heating melted snow, these were the hills of ancient seafaring wanderers, connected by this feeling of a true reality.

….And the snowy hills seemed to retreat to a Shangri-La in the distance, rolling hills of desert farm pastureland. This was the Dakotas, but as the boy looked out his car window he could see these snow covered farmland hills retreat into a Sarah-like visage, the sky with the sun melting down on the snow blending in, to a distant looking medieval Oasis.

But this was snow that the sun was starting to beam down on and created a visual feeling of 1001 Arabian nights, and Ali Baba, sherazade. A black wolf gazing off into the horizon of snow sand mists into the heating melted snow, these were the hills of ancient seafaring wanderers, connected by this feeling of a true reality.

In town the boy heard the usual familiar conversations. Store and library patrons talking about how they couldn’t wait to get home and see their pets. People and their emotional attachments — a dog or a cat waiting for them at home, to pet them or feed them. This seemed to provide them with enough of a strength to get through their dull workdays. However the boy couldn’t help but think about the scenery of this Arrakis, the dune planet, somewhere within his distant consciousness and his six senses it existed. This superceded all sneezing and talk of dreadful Christmas parties and who was going to pay for what, and contribute who to what.

Dogs and cats, and snow leopards all wishing that the new reality would change over. The desert sea mist changing the snow into a surreal voyage worthy of Sherazade’s alladin, and those mystifying tales of kings, castles, and princesses. All old world politics was gone and the new world was here emerging through the snowy hills, like Hannibal crossing the alps there was a fervor for change, and an idea endeavor for resurrecting the best spirit of human spirit.

Everywhere in the world was changing, and books were now showing us what was happening all over the globe. The River Elbe in Germany, before and after 1995 and 2004, as the water levels depleted so much, that the cathedrals now looked like mosques on the backdrops of North african deserts. This was Germany, however where you would expect green lush forests instead, Bavaria and the dark green castle scenery ..
