Overview of Brandon and the Funeral!
Well, you’ll probably be hearing from me a lot more now. I am FINALLY done with school and all my finals. I took the last one at 8 tonight. Being the last one and my brain is fried I doubt I did any good. Plus the fact that I attended one of the most difficult funerals in my life earlier in the day….yeah.
I went to work today until about 11:30 or so. I was hoping to leave a lot earlier than that…but whatever works. I had to stop and Kmart and then I hurried home and changed my clothes and threw my hair up. Then we left. The closer we got to the church I kept getting butterflies. For some reason I was a little nervous about his funeral. I don’t know if I was worried how I was going to react…or Matt. Of all the funerals I’ve been to in the past *knocks on wood* it’s never been a family member or anyone I was really really close to. This one was the one that I knew the best I guess you could say. I mean I didn’t know Brandon all that well, but I’ve known him more than any of the other funerals I’ve gone to. Anyways…the worst part was the viewing. We went through and it was just shocking. I mean it didn’t even look like him. Not because they had shaved his head(while he was in the hospital they had to cut open his head to try and relieve pressure)…anyways, but whoever did the makeup and what not did a horrible job. It did not look like him at all…and he was all purple..I mean I know they aren’t suppose to look exactly the same, but the ones I’ve gone to in the past the person honestly just looked like they were sleeping…I mean I don’t know…I’m sure Brandon was bruised and what not from his fall…but blah..it was just weird. I mean I about lost it, but I tried to stay strong for Matt…he didn’t do too well. He actually did better than I expected…
When Bob got there though he was already a little teary-eyed…poor guy..it was just a rotten day for anyone…but it was to be expected. The service was great. Brandon was a mighty popular guy. I learned a lot more about him…I mean I had kind of been on bad terms with him in the past and today showed me that he really was an awesome guy. He had such a big heart and loved his mother dearly. It was so sad to see her…he was a definite momma’s boy. He absolutely loved children and loved being a role model. He loved football. He played throughout highschool and he had played for the Idaho Falls Mustangs the last two or three years. He was also an assistant coach for the highschool football team in Ririe. All of the football teams were there…Ririe and Idaho Falls. They were the honorary paulbearers.
The worst part is, this guy was just starting to turn his life around. He was getting more and more involved with the church. He was working on getting everything he needed done to ‘catch up’. He had recently found him a girl that he truely loved. Rumor is they were on the verge of being engaged. She was there at the funeral and was a mess. It was just so sad seeing how many people were hurt. I’ve never been to a funeral with that many people attending.
Blah..I don’t want to talk about it anymore!
