Oh, kids.
Eric and I are officially done with our PRIDE adoption classes. Actually, we’re pretty much done with our end of the entire process! I have a couple of forms to give our worker (they’re complete- just need to get them to her), and she’ll give our home study/application to her supervisor to review. She said she doesn’t think there will be any problem having our family assessment officially approved. Then we wait. We’ve requested information on 5 girls as of right now. We check the site daily for new ones. Once the supervisor checks everything out, she’ll be able to give us information from each child’s worker. We set up the other bed in Abigail’s room, just so we’re prepared. We’ll be buying another dresser soon, too. I realize it could be a while, but I’d rather get some of the bigger things taken care of beforehand. Plus these are things we have wanted around even if we never have another child.
Austin has taken to eating an apple nearly every day. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s pretty exciting. He just snatches an apple and eats the whole thing (I have to take it away before he eats the whole core lol). He also enjoys grapes now. It takes away one or two servings of high fat crackers, woohoo! We have 4 months to try to get his gaining under control before we’re referred to a dietitian. I think with these small changes he’s making in his diet, paired with the more active spring/summer months, we’ll be able to stop him from gaining. At this point we’re looking for a height growth, a cease in gaining, or even a loss. That’s my hope, anyway. If he only gains a pound, that would probably be okay, too.
Abigail sees the Pediatric Cardiologist tomorrow morning. Wish I knew what to expect. If they poke and prod a lot, I may let her take an extra hour or two off school to go meet the people/horses at the stables.
I think ALL kids gain in the winter. Here’s to hoping Mr. Picky makes some healthier choices. 😉 And prayers for Abby!!

Super exciting that everything is coming to a “close” with all the adopting stuff. Hopefully soon enough you’ll have another addition! Ashley

Wow, it’s getting so close! Abigail probably can’t wait to have a new sister. I wish I had room to adopt, it would be so awesome. Good for Austin!! He’s really full of surprises, isn’t he? Hope he keeps up this new interest in good healthy foods.

That is wonderfully exciting for your family! We have been holding off on pursuing this avenue because of our residence. You have to have a designated separated bedroom from what I understand, and this condo is just too small. EEE! Good for you guys! What is Austin weighing now? Spencer went to the dr today. He’s 59.5″ and 90 lbs. 90. He’s rock solid. The dr said he’s not overweight, but that

is the average size of a 10 year old. Making those small changes combined with more movement will definitely help. Does he like to take walks? All that “neat” movement adds up.
