What a fucking mess.  Checked my email today and opened something that appeared to be from a group we work with.  Being as how i am in the activist/advocate vein of business, it is not out of the ordinary to get an action-alert that has a form to "write my representative", about alaskan oil drilling, tax cuts, or whatever.  So, i clicked on a button and wound up at some page that automatically downloaded "spysherrif", this little beaut of a program to my pc.  At first it appeared to be a Microsoft Security Alert, but then everything froze, and this shit appeared in my taskbar with one of those little pop-up balloons telling me it was downloading this program.  Fucking bastard took me over an hour to delete, as Spybot S&D and McAffee (and yes, I checked the right boxes for searching for joke and potentially unwanted programs) didnt seem to recognise it.  First I tried to delete it from the add/delete programs, but it just came right back.  It got into my system restore and deleted my resore points, changed my privacy settings on IE (not allowed to use firefox at work) changed my homepage, and fucked up my desktop.  Spybot S&D looked like it worked, but on restart, it re-appeared.  Had to go to the goddamn file registry and boot record to delete all the sweet little bits of mal/ad/spyware it generously gave to me. 

Stupid ass crap.  I hate Bill Gates.

So, as I said, i thought i had gotten rid of spy sherrif.  Unfortunately, when i came in, there it was again… So, after looking at all the tech forums i can find, it appears the only thing i can do is wipe and reformat the hard drive!  Woo fucking hoo! Jesus Fucking Christ, I want to kill someone.  Oh, and by the way, I am not writing this from that machine… Apparently the virus/ad/spy/mal ware i got is some sort of keystroke trojan that infiltrated the system files, making it impossible to find all the shit, since it works by making my comp lie to me and say there isnt anything out of place.  Fucking wonderful. *insert incredibly pissed off scream here*
