Going to Java Indonesia

I’ve narrowed it down from 26 to 1 country in much less time than I thought.  It happened entirely by accident.  Somehow I started looking up volunteering and found an orangutan and other animal rescue and rehabilitation centre.   So I am going to go look after some fantastic animals for 12 weeks.  This is great because it will also let me figure out how I like Indonesia and allow me to make some contacts for a possible move to the country.

The date hasn’t been firmly set, but I think the second week of January 2019.  I want to be home for Christmas, and I can’t go for that long over the summer because there is no one to look after my house and cat during that period.  Late September early October was on the table; however, I would rather be in Java when it’s freezing too cold in Canada.  Hence January 2019 is the date of departure.

This is so exciting.  It will give me something to look forward to this year.  A good reason to get/stay in shape and buy a couple of new lenses for my camera.

There isn’t much else going on.

It’s incredible how groups of people who don’t know each other act a certain way.  Most of the people I have been talking with all day have been very negative about situations in their life.  For a lot of them, negitivity is causing them to get in their own way and stopping them from working towards what they want.  I wish I could just tell them to get out of their own way.

Sometimes I know too much.  It must be nice being a dumbed down person who has no clue about anything other than themselves and which Kardashian did what and how great/terrible it is, while genuinely believing it somehow betters or worsening their own lives as well.

Bah for now.

A lack of a decent liberal arts education that teaches critical thinking seems to me to be the number one form of tyranny over the mind of man. Then again, it may be precisely my liberal arts education that taught me to (usually) think critically that makes me unsatisfied with only keeping up with what the Kardashians are doing.

Your plans sound so interesting. I missed an opportunity to study abroad for 10 weeks in Thailand in 2002. I stayed home to save my marriage, which fell apart anyway. I applaud you for following your dream.

@sunshinelollipops 1. I’m happy to hear you are unsatisfied with knowing how celebrities actions OMG like really impact your life and mood.

2. I’m sorry to hear about your marriage. It’s never too late for you to follow your dreams. That sounds cliche but it’s true.

That is interesting. I hope you will keep us all posted when you do this.
