Sunday

Back in Sydney again today – this time for my visa medical, which is on Tuesday.

We are feeling guilty about how much money these trips have cost us (and still are costing us), but we are justifying it by reminding ourselves that we took precious few trips away from home during the 3 years we have spent here and this is our last hurrah before we leave.

And shit, we’re having a good time of it.

We are both terribly ill with a flu at the moment, it really hit us Thursday night.  We’ll be better in a few days, but it is pretty miserable when we’re both knocked on our asses.

One of the partners at my firm threw a party last night.  There are 3 partners, my boss, my boss’ father, and a third guy.  Let’s call him Rorge for this exercise.  It was just a general end-of-financial-year party, with drinks and finger food.  M and I were both really sick, so we didn’t have the best time, but it was still nice.  As we were leaving, Rorge gave me a big, heartfelt hug.  He was wasted, but had earlier in the night been telling me that he was sad that I was leaving and he wished I wasn’t.  And it wasn’t that drunk, sleazy shit, it was genuine.  Rorge is really my favourite of all the partners and I have so many moments where I wish I was one of his kids, instead of a kid from my family.

Saturday we just lay in bed.  I had to do 4 loads of laundry (still catching up from our move) so I was trotting in and out for the morning, then lay in bed and tried to sleep until the evening.  I went out and got us some soup from a Chinese restaurant and we went to bed early.

This morning we still felt shitty, and even now we are both wiped out.  Going to take a burning hot shower and crawl into bed.

Sucks you’ve got the flu. Hope you have a quick recovery! It’s a pity you weren’t well so you could enjoy the party more!
