Saturday

I set an alarm last night for just after midnight, so I could wake up and sit with M while he called his bank.  I woke up at 6am this morning and had a slight heart attack when I realised that I must have turned my alarm off last night and gone back to sleep.  That NEVER happens to me.  My alarm goes off and I jump up out of bed, no matter how tired I feel.  I must have just been past the point of exhaustion, I am just so surprised that it happened!  Anyway, after checking the time difference (and double checking it) I prodded M awake and he tried his banker.  No answer, of course, so he called a general enquiry line, and after a long wait and several transfers, he was able to speak with someone who could help him.

Here’s the sich:  He had an account with X bank in the US. A year ago, he got an email from Y bank that X bank had sold its branches to Y bank and that Y bank would be taking over the accounts.  The debit card for X bank had expired.  M tried to log in to internet banking as directed by Y bank, but it did not work, because the assumption had been made that M had been using internet banking with X bank, which wasn’t the case.  So he needed to explain that he had no access to his account and needed log on details, that he was in Australia, and that he had no cards or cheque books for his account.  Complicated.

But it is sorted out now, and he has online access to the account.  They can only send a new card to a US address, so we think M will get the card sent to Tyler’s house and Tyler can forward it to us.

We went over to mother’s house to do some laundry, which took all afternoon.  Brought everything home and hung it up to dry, and went out to grab some noodles for dinner.  Stopped by Coles for some groceries, and I am SO PUMPED about the family sized Crunch bar I bought for $3.

Did you know that this time in 2 weeks time, we will be at mother’s house and away from this shithole?  That feels nice.

It also feels scary because we have so much to do.  I am still feeling so overwhelmed with things and not knowing where to start.  I will just have to pick somewhere and hack away at things.

I forgot to weigh myself while we were at mother’s house.  It’s probably a good thing, though.  I have been revelling a little too much in my recent weightloss and I don’t think it is healthy.

Yeah, you obviously needed that sleep! Glad you got it. And that the bank crap is sorted! Can’t wait till you are away from the ****hole! Things may not be perfect at your mum’s but they’ll be a darn sight better than where you are now!!
