Wednesday
Neighbours are currently in the middle of the predicted fight. He has stormed out, screeching tyres as he drove off. Came back 10 minutes later, she won’t let him in, he’s yelling at the front door (which is actually in front of OUR front door, also). He screeches off again. He’ll be back shortly. They’ll fight some more, then she’ll let him back in. They’ll fight even MORE, and then they’ll get back together like nothing happened. Fucking bullshit.
But at least this Wednesday has passed. This time next week, work will be underway on the extension to mother’s house.
(Oh, idiot neighbour is back again. This argument started about 40 minutes ago. That’s how ridiculous this all is. It’s not like he goes away for a few hours to cool off, he literally drives around the block and then comes back.)
Pay day today. It’s cancelled out entirely by the end of the month bills and the energy bill. But at least the savings don’t go down, it just means they don’t go up at all. I am so thankful that mother doesn’t want to accept rent from us. I will be paying more off the money I owe her, but just imagine: bills for the month will only be about $300, that is IT. I can’t even fathom that. It will be so motivating to watch the bank balance skyrocket once we aren’t paying rent.
I am nervous about studying this weekend. I have three exams next weekend, although I am only concerned about one. The other two I will be fine with, but closed book for jurisprudence is utter torture. I have a plan for my last minute study, and can only hope it is successful.
I have an ultrasound on Friday for my enlarged ovary. That will be awkward. I had one of those once before, with a male doctor (which I wasn’t bothered by) who brought in a female nurse to try and make me feel more comfortable (which didn’t, because she was insanely chatty – sorry, but I don’t want to have a conversation while a lubricated wand is swirled around my insides). Then there’s the drinking 1L of water and holding it until the appointment – I would drink 1L of water in a WEEK, if I am lucky.
Good news: I cancelled my insurance policies now that I have ceased the transcribing job. The day I called to cancel, a payment was deducted from my account and I just figured that was bad luck. Nope! They are going to send me a cheque for my $30-odd dollars as a refund. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s lovely to get it back.
Also good news: The energy bill from my deadbeat ex-friend that has been plastered onto my credit record? The energy company has agreed to accept documents from me to evidence that I was not even in the country at the time and a statutory declaration to that effect. It’s no guarantee at all, but I am pleased that they are willing to take it into consideration. As I said, I WAS the responsible tenant at the time, and should be required to pay the bill, UNLESS the officer reviewing the matter decides to use their discretion and remove the listing for me. I haven’t had a chance to put it together yet, but plan to have something sent to them next week.
Bad news: The other blemish on my record was a telephone account, and I am pretty sure it is mine. I am getting a copy of the bill sent to me, but the time frame matches me. It’s weird though, they even admitted that they had my updated mailing address, and yet I never received anything from them. In fact, I kept receiving bills that said I was $0.14c in credit, but that could have been a different account. I need to compare the account numbers etc for these bills and see what I can figure out. So far, everyone I have spoken to about it at both the energy and phone companies have been really helpful, and I have not felt stressed about this at all, which is nice. It’s just another thing to sort out.
A little bit more good news: My assistant is a very hard worker. She has a huge workload this week and she is handling it very well. I have to keep checking in with her, and tomorrow we will sit down for half an hour or so and prioritise everything she has to do, but I am feeling much more positive about her this week than I was feeling last week. Mostly because I threw her in the deep end and left her alone to answer the phones or BUST! She rose to the challenge and today I even saw her reaching for the phone when it was ringing out the back. One of the other girls beat her to it, but I was still happy to see her try.
Glad that things with the assistant are looking up! Sounds as if she is handling things well. I have bad news too – Smog’s next vet bill will be $650. I didn’t get charged for the consult tonight though, so maybe that’s something…! 😉 Your neighbours go far beyond merely sucking – just not sure I have the words to describe my thoughts on them!

Woohoo! Go assistant! I hope the power company are nice enough to waive the charge. I don’t understand how people could be so inconsiderate as to have a blow up right outside someone else’s front door. I would die of embarrassment if neighbours overheard us fighting! What is wrong with these grots??

I hope you are able to get those charges waived with the power company. I’m sure that will be a relief.
