The sleep study

I was posting via facebook all night by my phone because it was easier than trying to get here. So, here’s how our night went.

12/23/09  09:39PM – is at Children’s hosp 4 kenny’s sleep study. hels out cold already!
12/24/09  12:30AM – is still awake. it’s f-ing freezing in here. every time I doze off kenny sucks air or snores. just now he’d flipped himself around and got all tangled in his wires.
12/24/09  2:30 AM – again with the awake. ms. stacy just burst in here, threw back his coverrs and scared the CRAP out of me by checking for Kenny’s pulse and breathing like she was ready to push a code blue button. he’d just pulled off a cord though. LOOOOOONG night.
12/24/09  3:30AM – wonders when she got so OLD that staying up all night is hard. I used to stay up late all night playing games or just hanging out.
12/24/09  4:15AM – 45 minutes later and i’m still awake. caved and left kenny’s room for the parent’s lounge which is a normal temp. the sllep lab rooms are kept cool so the kids don’t sweat the sticky things off. i’m starving too. will have to break into the applesauce I brought.

12/24/09  12:00PM – got home at about 7:30. Stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast because I NEEDED coffee. Gave Kenny a bath right away and all the sticky stuff out of his hair. Then I crashed in bed and slept. I know I called Kat on the way home, but I have NO idea what we talked about. Not a safe way to drive.

After the 2:30AM waking, I didn’t post it, but the nurse chastised me after for moving Kenny. She never told me I couldn’t touch him. It was about 3AM. He had turned all the way around in bed and the wires were wrapped around his throat. I didn’t like that or feel comfortable with it, so I moved him. If she had told me to not move him or touch him, I would have left him alone. But she didn’t. So I made him more comfortable.

The nurse said that they got plenty of data and that Kenny did really good and was a good patient. Hopefully, it comes back that he just has huge tonsils and is fine and doesn’t need them out. That would be good for me.

I hope it comes back that he is fine. I would have moved him, too.

Oh gosh, that sounds like a very unpleasant experience. I hope the results come back ok. xxx
