Pre-Operation Goals

In bulleted form so that I can eat lunch at the same time:

  • Most important – Gain weight. Goal weight 135 pounds. Current weight 127 pounds (just weighed myself on the shipping scale at work). Realistic goal weight 130 pounds. I’m being a good girl and drinking my breakfast drink twice a day. It’s not so bad if I add extra milk. Which is good too, I guess since the extra callories are needed. I’m also eating extra snacks. I’m doing my best to eat creamier and higher calorie foods, but they fill me up quicker, so I don’t feel like eating MORE of it. It’s really harder than it looks.
  • Get house cleaned. If not whole house, at least my bedroom.
  • Get a couple of "easy to reheat" meals pre-made for Nathan and the boys.
  • Go shopping
    • Dry erase board
    • Italian ices
    • freezer pops
    • "honey" cough drops
    • "bed chair"
    • bed table/tray
    • boxes of tissues
    • "spit bucket" (gross, but several blogs mention having something to spit into because it might hurt to swallow the first couple of days) I think this might just be an old cookie dough tub or something I can cut a hole into so I don’t have to see "it" and can throw away. EWWWWWWWW
  • Get the "living will" out and redo it. I hate that, but there is anesthesia involved and I need it known what is supposed to happen to me after…
  • Move a dvd player into my room

*hugs* I’m rooting for a speedy recovery! you are an awesome mom and wife.

Holy crap, I really got behind in my reading! I’ll bet it IS hard to put on weight on purpose, because as you said the fat in the fatty food is what makes you feel “full.” I think it’s genius to get something to use for a spit bucket that has a LID you can cut a hole into so you don’t have to look at the results. Seriously. That’s BRILLIANT. I wish I’d thought of it six puking kids ago.

Also get a stack of magazines and some books. I was bored to TEARS within about four days, I had my surgery Friday morning. The next Wednesday I went and got coffee for all my co-workers and voluntarily went to visit them at work, i was THAT BORED. One thing, did anyone mention that about a week to ten days after, your ears might get really sore for a day or two? Just due to how close thetonsils are to your eustachian tubes? Cause no one told me and I was really pissed that my throat felt so much better but my ears hurt like hell for 36 hrs. Oh yes, and get liquid acetaminophen and/or ibuprofen for yourself. Or quick dissolve tabs. Something that doesn’t require you to swallow it whole.
