NoJoMo 27

Almost at the end of NoJoMo! I’m finding it difficult to keep this up every single day but I’ve managed it at least!

The reason I started NoJoMo was to see if I was capable of writing SOMETHING every single day. The hope is that I might be able to start writing some proper fiction again with a similar amount of regularity. I’d love to write a novel one day but procrastination and work just delay it, but I’ve proved to myself that with a little persistence, I’m capable of contributing to something every day. It’s a small step, but it’s in the right direction.

I’ve had a really good weekend, Mat had the entire weekend off from work so we did a bit of Christmas shopping together which was nice. We also bought some stuff to make Christmas cards with. We went to one of those craft stores that sells lame scrapbooking stuff for middle aged women who want to pretend they’re doing something creative by cutting out ready made artworks and sticking them in a book.

We bought some sheets of ye olde type Christmas drawings, then stuck them on cards and put pictures from magazines we’d cut out on top to make bizarre scenes. Here’s one of them:

Yes, they’re weird. Traditional Christmas cards are too boring. I’m not gonna upload them all on here because I wanna send a few to people on OD and obviously, these cards are too awesome to spoil the surprise. I’ll upload the rest once everyone’s got theirs in the post.

Oh, here’s one Mat made. It’s even more surreal…

Last night we went to Moda, this cheesy "fashion" bar around the corner from us. The guy who runs it is called Mustafa and he’s well into Armani Jeans and the like. He hangs dresses and shoes on the walls and has all these shopping bags everywhere. Also there’s a weird painting on one of the walls of some women walking down the catwalk.

Anyway, Mat seemed to make friends with Mustafa, so now he always brings us tonnes of free drinks and food throughout the night, which is cool. One time he bought us all roses from one of those guys that walks round all the bars in town selling single roses. That was funny. So yeah, last night was pretty good. We must have had about 12 rounds of drinks, but so many were free that the total tab for three of us came to 30 euros. And since I was drinking white wine all night, my hangover was surprsingly manageable, just the tiniest headache, Rose had told me that if you drink clear drinks rather than dark drinks it usually prevents such bad hangovers because clear drinks don’t contain sulphates. It sounds like some made up health bullshit but it turns out to be true.

This is from last night:
