NJM 4: What makes me Tick?

I’ve got a bit of a problem with OCD in my daily life. Although my certain “ticks” are not nearly as bad as some others that I’ve seen or experienced personally, and they’re nowhere near as bad as what you may see on TV, they do play a role in my life, and they’re certainly there.

When I worked at Subway, I continually had to wash my hands for obvious reasons. Because of that, combined with the fact that I was working a second job in the mail room so I was constantly touching paper, my hands were always extra dried out. I started using a lot of lotion, and the lotion became one of my obsessions. I used to apply lotion constantly. My need for it has slightly decreased, but it’s still present. Whenever my hands start to feel dry, or I touch a texture that I don’t like, I find the nearest lotion (and I usually always have some on me) and apply at will.

The same pretty much goes for chapstick. My lips feel dry a lot, so I always keep some chapstick in my pocket, on the coffee table at home and in the car. That way I never have to go without. If I run out, I HAVE to go to the store and get some more. It may be silly, but it’s true.

I always have to chew my food equally. If I take a bite and chew it on the right side of my mouth, the next bite has to go to the left side. I have no idea what my obsession is with evenness or even numbers in general, but there ya go.

I think those are my only crazies, but if I think of more, I’ll let you know,
