Effulgent

beginnings are like shooting stars,
blazing in the blanket of a
day-lost sky, shimmering and winking
like they know a secret that
the world can’t even imagine.
They appear quickly, and illuminate
a long lost thought,
shine in a moment of glory, then fade –
melt into middles
into wordless possibilities,
into maybes and some days
alive with hope
and silent as the cautious who
make promises without even
speaking a word
