Fun things

Remember the t shirt I mentioned wanting to get at the Rage gig? It’s here!

Now, this is cool. The band Orbital are huge Doctor Who fans. A staple of their live sets for years has been their version of the Doctor Who theme, which they’ve refused to put on an album, leaving it as something for their gigs.

Like at Glastonbury this year. With a rather special guest…

(Incidentally, who do I have to kill to get this to replace the current, and very, very crap, theme?)

yep, no arguments on that from me or anyone else I know. England were seriously lucky that it was only four goals. The only plus side is they started teaching kids to play continental style football four or five years ago so we might get an amazing crop of technically skilled kids in about eight years…

The new Doctor Who theme has grown on me over the weeks – but I certainly wasn’t keen on it to begin with.

Had I been there, I could have died happy. Okay, so I’d like to know (point me to the entry if you have already written about it) why you don’t like the new theme… FOr me it hearkens back to Tom days of Dr. Who and my childhood, when I was a gigantic fan of that theme song. I’ve been getting the episodes a day after they’re shown there, downloaded. I am absolutely in heaven… Gonna watch the most recent right after I post this youtube link to Facebook, of course… Thanks!

I very, very much wish he wore that outfit in the new series. I hate the bow-tie so much. and he keeps trying to sell it to Amy Pond, and I’m like: dude, only serial killers and pedophiles wear bow-ties. Are you enjoying him as the new doctor? he’s not as bad as I thought he’d be. I loved the Vincent episode, and it’s very much a different, higher quality show. ryn: I’m not considering putting him down or having him euthanized – not yet, not due to old age. Only when he becomes completely on death’s door will I do that, for his own sake and to stop any suffering.

RYN: I didn’t know that Idris Elba was on it, Ed Brubaker tweeted about it, but I think Elba’s an amazing actor. But on the topic of the Wire… Obviously you live in the UK, what would your opinion on a UK version of the Wire? Do you think people would watch it? And where do you think it would take place? I know the first answer you’d expect any American to say would be London, but I wondered

about Manchester or Yorkshire? I don’t know much UK population and cities, but I was curious on yoru take. It seems that ya’ll have a more… active press there and that it wouldn’t be quite as illuminating as the Wire was here. Am I right? Also, have you seen or read the Red Riding Trilogy? I’ve heard nothing but good things.

rynrmn: True, the strings are annoying. That’s the one part I would change. And I am getting used to the Dalek design. I particularly liked the way they looked in The Big Bang. Mostly because they looked gnarly and not like iPods. Loved the whole dang episode anyway. Cried my eyes out, laughed until I cried again. 🙂
