Banquet/Prom

We made it through.  It took about 55 minutes to get 700 people through the food line and every one had more than their fill of hot fresh walleye for dinner.  They ran out of roast beef, but who cares about that.  The "meeting" and prizes were all done by 9:45 and the dance started immediately afterwards.  At 1:30 I called JD at her after prom party and said if your ready to go home, so am I.  She readily agreed and and we went home.  We made over $36,000 net on the night’s fundraiser.  We gave away a 42" Flat Screen TV, a Rhino ATV, a 4 Wheeler, $1000 gift certificate to a local jewelry store, rifles, fishing rods/reels, power tools, and so much other stuff that I can’t even know.  I spent the entire evening in our "bank" located in the event center’s concession stand.  I took about 5 minutes to go play a couple of games, try to win the TV and such.  But I was unlucky and didn’t even win a stinkin’ air freshener.  It took me all day on Sunday to get the bank deposit ready.  The teller at the bank cheered as I walked in on Monday.  "oh, there she is, there she is!"  It was almost embarrasing.

Everything worked out, except I was not able to make it to grandmarch.  She found someone to do her hair earlier that day and was able to "hang out" with us at the vendor fair for several hours before going home to gather herself.  She went to CH’s and got ready for her prom.  I joined her about 5:00 and was there when her date picked her up.  She was very beautiful!  Her date’s twin brother and his date came by and we got real fun pictures of the 4 of them.   It was fun and bittersweet at the same time.  The twin’s have recently lost their mother to a very tragic shooting at our hospital in January.  I think I have an earlier entry about that.  Their dad and little sister were there taking pictures and I could tell it was "hard" for them.  Lots of hugging went on.
