4:47am
Hmm… I can’t sleep.
Josh wakes up around 3:30am the mornings he has to work. And lately, I haven’t been able to go back to sleep after his alarm goes off. Annoying.
The euthanasia seminar was boring. The only thing I learned was the exact formulas for working up dosages of the tranquilizer and the sodium pentobarbital. Prior to that, we’ve just always rounded up 1cc. And, I’ll still be doing that since it’s our normal procedure at work (makes logging the drugs easier…) so, the formulas will soon exit my brain. But all the lab he did on intravenous, intraperitoneal, intracardiac, etc. was old news to me. Needless to say, I passed the seminar with flying colors and can now say I’m certified by the States of Illinois as a Euthanasia Technician. LOL Probably not one of of the best things I’ll ever accomplish. But, it goes with this job…
He did talk a lot about the compassion fatigue from doing this sort of work. I found that digging deeper into the subject and having a better understanding actually hurt me more. I’ve detached very well from ending the life of numerous animals daily. Not to sound cruel, but it’s a fact. On any given day, I, single handidly, end anywhere from 5 animals to 20+ animals lives’ daily. It sucks. I wish I didn’t have to. But, I can’t control it. Until our population consists of 100% responsible pet owners, there will always be a need for euthanasia. I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon, but we have gotten much better over the years due to spay/neuter clinics and education.
All in all, it was a cake walk. And I got paid for it, and not one thing came out of my pocket. I actually came out ahead because there was no way I could spend $40/day on dinners. LOL
I came home to a brand new computer system. My computer died on me, and I had been tossing around the idea of buying a new one. Well, Josh bought me one all by himself! I love him. Little does he know, I already ordered him the new pair of sunglasses he’s been wanting for ages. I also ended up buying the Zune. My Josh has an iPod, and my partner Josh has a Zune. I have to say I much prefer the Zune, since I’ve taken time and stolen both devices from both Josh’s. And thus far, I’ve been very pleased with it. But I’ve only had it a mere12 hours. LOL
My house is a disaster with all the work we’ve been doing to it. Luckily, Josh should be finished with the walls this evening. Which means I can clean up the house, and we can start getting the walls primed and ready for painting this weekend. And then go get our new flooring! So much excitement.
… Oh, and I must’ve jinxed myself or something. Nausea and indigestion hit me hard this morning. =
