Josh is living in tents out in Afghani-land. He’s told me that a bunch of guys are trying to get together to purchase a satellite so they can have access to internet, but it’s taking some time. Otherwise, he doesn’t have a whole lot of access to phone lines or internet. So, he bought a "hadji" cell phone. Calling is crazy expensive, but we use it sparingly and it’s really so he can be accesible with little Josh arrives.

He does text me every now and again, though. How friggen awesome is that to get a text message from thousands of miles away?

I got these last night,
"Hey honey. Sorry I haven’t called in a couple days. It’s been really crazy here, but I’ll call you tonight. I love you."
"Oh, and don’t pay attention to the news today…"

So, I told him I never do (I really don’t…) and asked if everything was okay.
"Yea, we’re fine. Just a close one."

Hm. Well, then.
I really don’t pay attention to the news. Josh tells me that it’s, for the most part, inaccurate when it comes to the stuff over there, anyways. And I don’t know his exact location, so I’m not going to sift through every article and wonder if that was his area they’re talking about.

So, instead of worrying, I will buy lots of cider donuts at the apple orchard today. And then I will freeze them individually, vaccuum seal them and mail them off in a carepackage tomorrow. Packages have only been taking 6 days over there, so they should be fresh enough to still be edible in that time. -nods-

I dont think I could manage with a loved one in a war zone. When I had a friend in the navy in the middle east during the conflict years ago I was on edge everytime there was a news report that had anything to do with anything near him.
