Mad!!!!!!!!!!I need opinions.

I have an issue here at work…..

Every morning myself and this other gal read the bible for 15 minutes, now she comes in at 7:40am I take my break when I read the bible with her.  Normally my break doesnt start at 9:30 but I dont never use to take that break, so I started reading the bible with this lady.  Well this Saturday one of the guys here had swimming pool party and I didnt go, neither did "S",(shes the one who reads with me) and some other gal didnt go neither.  Well they were talking about us that we read the bible on companys time. Now we have smokers here at the office, which no problem they go and smoke outside, well they smoke and take breaks outside like more than 6 times, I kid you not!

The Bosses friend told us that the boss might not like the fact that we read the bible here since she is not into church and has been hurt by christians in the past.  I told her well if she has a problem with me reading the bible she will tell me but how do you guys go and talk behind my back about me reading the bible when they take like 6 breaks through out the day…..she got pissed and started telling me that we all dont give 100 % here at work of course she doesnt cause she is the smoker queen.  What do you guys think?  Am I wrong for reading the bible on my break?  Should I ask the boss about her feelings towards this?  I need some opinions please……

Your break is your time, you can do what you want. If you get fired over that you better contact a lawyer!!!

I think you should be able to do what you want on YOUR break time, so long as it is not taking away from company time, which it sounds to me like it is not. I’ve found that non-Christians ALWAYS have a gripe with the word of God. It’s so sad isn’t it?!

I don’t see anything wrong with it. You’re on your break, so that’s not really interferring with the company’s time. Breaks are for you to take and do whatever you choose to. And in my opinion, choosing to read the Bible, is harmless. And I think that the “Smoker” had said all of that to you because she had felt defensive about you also calling her out on her cigarette breaks as well.

I think you that when you are about to take your break you need to make it known that that’s what you are doing. Say loudly for the rest of the workers to hear, “I’m going on my break now.” That way, they can’t gripe when you go read your Bible. (Good for you, by the way, for being a light.) Matt. 5:16

RYN: If your boss really does have a problem with you reading the Bible, let her come to you and talk to you about it. It’s her problem, not yours.

Good for you for standing up for what you believe in. Our pastor just said last night that if they passed a law that made preaching the word of God illegal, then he would just preach fromhis jail cell. Theres no telling how many times the “smokers” go out to puff on their cancer sticks. And theo probably do it on company time. Good for you and God Bless

Its YOUR break. They can’t do a thing about it. Man, this just goes to show how bad this world is getting, isn’t it?

I agree with the above noter, it’s YOUR break, and you should be the only one to choose what you do with it. However, if the situation overall makes you feel uncomfortable, why can’t you do like the smokers do and take it outside? Find a nice place to sit and read 🙂

Ryn- Yeah I know what you mean. You’d still made a good point though. Tit for tat, right? 🙂
