The Last Month Or So
so it’s really been over a month since I have last wrote so I guess it’s time for an update.
I finished my first 5 weeks of placement on May 3rd, I actually learnt alot at York, and going there has truly made me realize that working in a long-term home isn’t for me. Being a PSW in a long-term care is harder and is rewarding, but at time you are worked like a dog and don’t have as much time needed with the residents that I would like. There are a few residents in whom I am going to miss because I have gotten close to them, but then there are those staff who made me really realize that long-term care isn’t for me. With that being said, I started my new placement on May 7th, and I just finished last friday, and I loved it there. I was at a retirement residence, so more independent living but I was in charge of medication, taking blood sugar levels, taking blood pressure as well as giving insulin shots. I even got a job offer at Pala, they didn’t have any opening for p/f time, so I am casual and the call-in girl for now, maybe sometime might open up later on. I start my 3rd and last part of placement tomorrow at Bayshore, which I’ll be doing home care, I’ll have 70.25hrs there, then 2 weeks of class and then I am done, thank heavens, these last 5 weeks are going to drag.
My cousin got married on May 19th and I had such a blast. My brother and leah had the boys but called at 10 because they were freaking out so Shawn had to leave. Also the day before I chopped off my bangs, I’ve been growing my bangs for 15ish years, and now they are short and I really like them like that, makes me look more sophiciated, if you have me on facebook you can check out the pictures.
So on Thursday I had a intake meeting with a placement agency to get Maxim the help he needs to see if he does have Autism, or if he has a learnin disability. From there, they referred me to child care resources which do the testing, and that could take anywhere from 9-12montths to see someone, which sucks, but at least Maxim is young enough, and will get the help before he starts school next September (not THIS sept, NEXT).
Other then that, nothing much has changed.
