An Eventful Week

Taking a deep breath I now recount my goings-on this past week.  On Monday I  had my interview at the  Timbergen Building at the Radcliff Science Library.  The Interview was interesting and I was given a guided tour of the library.  They have three small libraries in the building.  The Alexander Library which houses books on birds, the Main Library and the Eaton Library.  The Library is part of the Bodleian Library and is owned by Oxford University.  The Zoology Library serves the students of Oxford University that are studying zoology and other animal sciences.  The Interview went well and they asked me a few questions.  They wanted to know why I wanted to work there.  They asked me to discribe my ideal employer which I said is one that you can talk to…one who is approachable and friendly.  They asked me about my job at the Library back home and to discribe my duties.  They asked me if I ever encountered problem patrons.  I was honest and said yes but I handled them professionally in a professional manner.  They said they’d phone me on Tuesday if they decided I was the best candidate for the job.  Yet they told me I shouldn’t be discouraged if I didn’t hear from them Tuesday because sometimes they’re slow to respond but if I were to hear from them next Monday I’d know for sure if I got the job.  I haven’t heard from them yet.

On Tuesday I had a Dental Appointment to have my teeth cleaned professionally and have two fillings.  I was shaking in my boots!  I am normally brave to go to the Dentist.  Hell, I even had one tooth removed without any anathesia when I was five Years Old.  Yet my legs turned to jelly when I thought about going to the Dentist this past Tuesday.  For one thing it is a new Dentist in a new town and I didn’t know how good she was.  I told her I was afraid of needles.  She was good!  She gave me the needle and I didn’t even feel it! She cleaned my gums, scraping them well and she was done in less than half an hour!  Haa!  When I sat down I knocked over the paper cup filled with water she set for me on the arm of the dentist’s chair!  That’s how nervous I was.  Yet when I finished I was trully amazed!  I was able to eat straight-away and I made it home in time to have lunch with Hubby!

On Thursday I had to return some books to the Library.  I walked to the Library and on my way over I stumbled forward and fell face-down on the pavement!  I quickly got myself up and was not hurt. An elderly man saw me and he came up to me and asked me if I was alright.  I nodded and continued walking towards the Library.  I did scrape my knee hurrendously and as I fell….I wet myself! I was so completely embarrassed and shaken…but not stirred!

That afternoon after a siesta my sister-in-law phoned from the Churchill Hospital.  She asked me if I was interested in working at the Churchill starting Monday from 8:30AM to 4:30 PM Mondays through Fridays.  I was awe-struck!  This is wonderful! She phoned the NHS and asked the human resource woman if I was ready for work yet the lady said that the  NHS was still waiting for Ivonne’s Reference. They already have my boss’s letter of Reference and I have health clearance to work.  I still need proper training before I can start work in any hospital or surgery in Oxford.  My sister-in-law who is an administrator in the Churchill told the NHS Professional lady that this is the Electronic age and in this day and age of E-mails she cannot phathom how they cannot get a reference from somebody in less than a week!  She said the NHS Professionals are slow in processing information and paper work and that I should have been up and running weeks ago when I first handed in my application.  I do hope I can go to work this Monday with Sue.  The job sounds wonderful and I can’t wait to start earning some money!

I baked some scones this morning.  They came out so light and luscious!  They are fruit scones with raisins! Hubby loved them! He had one for his pudding at Lunch.  The two of us had our lunch.  We had a cornish pasty and crisps! For pudding I had some chocolate biscuits and Hubby had a scone.

It is Foot-Spa Friday tonight!  Every Friday the Aris clan sits in the livingroom to watch a bit of television and soak our feet in a foot spa as we sip our drinks and relax welcoming in the Weekend.  I’m so glad it is the weekend! I am looking forward to relax with hubby and the family.
