When Irish Eyes Are Smiling…
Yesterday was a total waste of time. I had no plans, and other than dishes I did nothing around the house. I just wasn’t feelin’ it! It might have something to do with all the cold, rainy, grossness that turned into snow in the evening. BLECH! Over it. Thank goodness today is going to be sunny & 54! (Which sounds like a heat wave after yesterday!)
I’m waiting for little man to fall asleep and then I have to get ready & straighten up the living room. BFF and Lukey’s giiiiirlfriend are coming to play. Luke will probably (should be!) asleep still when they get here, and when he gets up we’re going out to lunch and a little shopping at Carter’s. Daaangerous! 🙂 But Luke really needs a spring jacket (seriously, it feels wrong bringing him outside in a huge bubble coat on the 50-60 degree days just because I feel like I’ll be frowned at for not having something like that on him).
I had a late night, last night. Matt was out to dinner with some high-up managers who were ripping on everyone that left early, and the whole point of his trip is to put in some face time with the people that can promote him. He wanted to break away for about 3 hours and couldn’t ’cause what excuse did he have? Everyone knew he’d just be going back to his hotel room to do nothing – even though that’s what he really wanted to do. I was so bored last night, and jealous of the fact that he was going out and having fun and I was at home for the 7,000th night in a row. Not that I let him know that – I don’t want him to feel guilty for enjoying himself there and networking like crazy. When he’s here, nooo one sees him at all, so he really needs to do what he’s doing. I just felt totally lame. I wished I’d had something to do! He finally called me when I decided to go up to bed and he sounded exhausted. He was like, "I don’t know how these people do this every single night!!". Meee neither. And tomorrow night he’s going to some World Cup something or other? And I guess the Iceland team is staying at the hotel they were out at last night so they got to meet them. It really means nothing to me….lol
We sent these pictures to Matt yesterday:
Look at all his little drooly spots! He is SUCH a drooler, lately. His bottom right 1 year molar is cutting….poor guy. That will make tooth #11. It’s interesting – he neverrrr drooled this much when he got his other teeth – these molars are a different story.
And really, you’d think with my love affair with the Cricut I’d be able to come up with better signs lol
Anyway, while I’m at it…..Matt’s parents gave Luke this OBNOXIOUS singing bear for St. Patricks Day. It’s motions are pretty cool, but the song is just…..UGH! It’s SO LOUD!! And of course Luke is obsessed with seeing it’s mouth move and watching it dance, and he’s already just…fascinated by any singing stuffed animal that he can repeatedly turn on & off. So I hear this about 100 times a day. I took a video of him playing with it…..I meant to shorten the end because it got boring (he was just turning it on & off & on & off….) but I forgot to do that that before I uploaded it to vimeo. Oops. Soo, you may want to skip the last 30 seconds lol.

And, I have another video I uploaded and then never did anything with. I don’t know if I mentioned this here or in his 14 month letter? But he is OBSESSED with sorting lately. What he does in this video isn’t exactly "sorting", but it’s kind of along the same lines. He’s really into putting things in places and then taking them back out. Or opening something, and closing it. I’m not sure exactly what he’s learning from doing these things, but he does them constantly, with such a strict concentration – like he’s performing brain surgery or something! The other day (actually, it was on St. Patrick’s Day) he was opening and closing the cabinet by the front door & putting his shoes away and taking them back out. I always get so nervous when he does things with doors because I just knoooow one of these times he’s going to hurt his little fingers. But I also hate to stop him…he has so much fun doing it and I’m sure there some sort of exploratory toddler reason for doing it!

With all this St. Patricks Day stuff I feel like I should post our pictures! I mentioned it before – we don’t usually celebrate it (just because, we’re not Irish, and never really got the point) but when you have a baby, there’s always a reason to dress them up and do something special! So I made corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot and we dressed in green. I even took a few pictures of Luke & I together but they are terrrrrrible, so you only get to see him 🙂
Ugh, SUCH a future heartbreaker 🙂
My "first born" doesn’t get very close to his little brother 🙂
I seriously just want to snack on his chubby thighs lol
He was a BIG corned beef & cabbage fan!
Anyway….time to get ready. Hope you all have a happy Wednesday!
