more supplies on their way…
i seriously have a problem.
i’ve been stuck in my house for what feels like an eternity while we’ve all gone through the sickness from hell. this past week was particularly hard for me because luke was overly miserable (and you KNOW i love him to pieces and i felt terrible for him feeling like garbage, but when you hear nothing but waaaaaaaaaah wahhhhh all day long for 5 days in a row it drives you A LITTLE BATTY!). i didn’t even have any time nor the ability to do something fun for myself (like card making or scrapbooking) because my cricut is totally out of commission. it survived through making all the signs and stuff for luke’s party…at least the most important ones. i had to scrap the others because it started just….tearing my paper and freaking up all my letters. i assumed it was my mat because when it lost its stick i’d just give it a new coat of zig glue and while you’re safe doing this about 3 times, i’d done it 4 or 5 times (yeah…..i use it a lot) so i figured i pushed it past its limit. but then i started wondering about the blade, because it seemed more like a blade issue. i looked up how often you’re supposed to change the blade, and much to my surprise it’s every 3 – 6 weeks!!!! more often if you use it daily, which i absolutely did. OOPS.
i’ve been having a hard time getting out to do much of ANYTHING, so i started looking for deals on blades & mats online. i was actually hoping to order them, not only from a convenience stand point, but they have sales online and usually don’t in the stores when it comes to anything cricut or provo craft related – and you can’t use coupons on them at any time. both the mats & blades come in packs of two for $10 and i really didn’t like the idea of dropping $20 every 4 weeks or so. deals must be had, people!!
well, i seem to have gotten the idea in my head that every weekend is time to order more craft supplies. i kind of get giddy on sundays when the new ads come out for the craft stores so i can see what’s worth scooping up. i went on joann.com and what do you know, both the mats and blades were on sale. they were $7 each, meaning i’d spend about $14 instead of $20. not an astronomical deal, but better than full price. and i figured, i could find some sort of free shipping coupon via google, it’s worth it.
onlyyy…..
all of the free shipping codes out there come with a catch. you have to spend X amount. usually it’s $50 but with enough searching i can usually find $35, and i did. sooooo i had to find a way to spend $17. like this would be hard for me? come on. i filled up my cart, plopped in my code, and now all of this is coming to me….
Jo-Ann 12”x12” Peppermint Forest Stack – 2009 (this one is making me nervous because it was on there for $7.99 – you might recall me drooling over this on the first of the year, waiting for it to drop to $9.99 so i felt this was an accomplishment. it went into my cart & the order went through easily…..but now it says it’s no longer available. so either, i got the last one, or they goofed and they are going to tell me i can’t have it).
Cricut Cutting Mats
Cricut Replacement Blades
Zig pen (I already need to replace one of them, I use them SO much)
A box of photo splits (i FLY through these)
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder – Snowflakes
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder – Perfectly Paisley
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder – Argyle
It doesn’t stop there……
this one site i stalk, custom crops, has sales fairly regularly and some of their cartridges drop ridiculously low. usually their prices are very similar to ebay, but you can find better shipping deals on ebay. however….certain ones cannot be matched. like…..the one i got. i got the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for only $14.99!!! it’s a VERY plain font….in fact i will probably rarely use it, BUT, it has a feature that i just loooove and so it made it to my "buy eventually" list anyway. if you look on the bottom left under the features, you’ll see an endcap feature. it doesn’t look like much there, but basically you can make a tag that starts and ends with a shape, and they kind of frame your word in a border like bookends. it might sound confusing….but i’ll show you what i mean when it arrives. it will make for some really cute scrapbook page titles, and even signs and stuff for luke. this would be a fav of mine to make name tags for kids desks and such if i were a teacher! it also has a basic envelope and card, a little gift bag, and some fun borders. in fact they show flowers in the grass as an example, and i see the grass, as well as ONE flower, but i’m not quite sure where the rest come from. i’ll have to wait and see what the handbook says when it arrives because that one would be really fun!
anyway……… i’m terrible.
