mental vomit (with videos!) *and pictures!

wow. it’s a gorgeous freaking morning for january in buffalo.
did the sun forget where it was?  (checks weather.com)

oh. it’s 11 out. apparently the sun is deceiving.
i was hoping for a balmy 40 or something. because i’d consider taking a walk.
i haven’t exactly done anything outside of this house apart from buy crappy birthday invitations from the dollar tree. not that the experience wasn’t thrilling (), but it would be nice to breathe fresh air again. matt mocked me the other night on our tops excursion. he said, "take a deep breath. feel that? it’s called air". ass.

if i, ya know, had a car, i might be able to experience more buffalo winter minus the frostbite.

luke slept in til 8 AGAAAAIN.
(if you saw the beyonce episode of wow wow wubbzy  , i said that like they kept saying "awesome" the entire freakin’ episode. if you didn’t see it, you can catch an example of it at the end of this video – lucky you 🙂 )

back to my point….

i’m not naive enough to think that luke will always sleep til 8am. in fact, it could change tomorrow. i’m actually kind of expecting it to since its been WAY too nice sleeping in til 8:00 all week. but, while it’s happening, i will take it and celebrate!

back to videos for a second.
(i got a little sidetracked)

this is luke’s FAVORITE song in the world right now. when he hears it, he has one of two reactions.
1) gets completely still and stares in awe
2) goes crazy rocking back and forth and flailing his arms (aka, his form of dancing)

The Aggrolites – Banana (Yo Gabba Gabba!)

WTF | MySpace Video

I hope you enjoyed that 🙂
I actually think it’s decent….if you like songs that repeat themselves continuously. Moreso that it has an actual beat, and doesn’t make me want to kill myself. I find most of yo gabba gabba’s songs to be that way….as utterly cracked out as the rest of the show can be. It’s also quite possible that i’m a huge weirdo, too.

Anyway. There is a heated debate in this house over what they say in the song.
I won’t tell you who’s on which side…just that we are divided into groups thinking they are saying "ba-na-na-na" and "baaa-na-na" at the end of each line. There are parts where they clearly say "baa-na-na", loudly, but those are kind of seperate from the rest of the song. The debate is over the background singers through the rest of the song.

This is what life comes to when you have kids? LOL.

So I’ve actually been some sort of productive this week. I still feel a bit behind because THESICKNESS and THEMILLIONBIRTHDAYPARTIESFORAONEYEAROLD have taken over life. I’ve really REALLY tried to get back on track this week. I finally got Luke’s 12 month letter up on my family blog yesterday, if you’re interested. But that was the least of my accomplishments. I cleaned his room, and I 1/2 cleaned our room (it would have gotten all the way done had he not woken up in the middle of my progress yesterday) and I’ve done about 4 loads of laundry. I’ve been slowly taking down decorations, putting away Luke’s new things, and sorting through piles of crap that have waited for the chaos to end before they got attention. It’s a slow process. BUT, I like that I’m making progress.

I used to get SO frustrated with the idea of not being able to get through an entire project that I just wouldn’t do anything at all. I’m really OCD about that kind of thing. But it’s kind of what buried me while I was waiting for us to heal and get over the festivities. I wouldn’t have to be digging myself out of a deep (DEEP) hole of CRAP if I wasn’t all Monk about the way things get done. I think I’ve FINALLY, finally, accepted the idea that IT’S OKAY to get things done in little chunks at a time. I mean honestly, that’s all I have! I may be home all day, but I’m certainly not alone. Luke is a very mobile, very daring, very curious, and very mommy-attached little boy who DEMANDS 100% attention while he’s awake. The most I can do is shove 1 dirty dish in the dish washer before he zooms across three rooms and starts reaching for the knives. So I’ve resolved to spend his awake time ONLY on him and stop trying to get things done while he’s awake (except for special circumstances, of course). My progress is reserved for his naptimes, and I just have to make sure that I’m as productive with them as I should be – even if the project I start won’t be completed by the end of his nap.

My hope, by the end of this week, is to have the laundry caught up (about 2 more loads only), my room FULLY cleaned, ALL of the decorations down, the invites for party #2 and thank you cards for party #1 sent out, and get caught up on my card making for all february dates. I have some other little projects in mind, too, but I don’t want to get too crazy.

Another new adjustment, is telling myself that just because I didn’t get through my entire to do list in any given day doesn’t mean I failed. They just get wrapped around to the next day and completed when they can. I know you’ve all seen me throw up the random list here or there, but I do this IRL, too. I write out my "goals" for the day and cross them off as I go….and lots of times things have to give. When I don’t get the whole list crossed off (hmm, almost every day?) I feel a little deflated and then the next day I might do absolutely nothing.

I don’t know why I’m blah-blahing about all of this? Just mentally spewing, I suppose.
And I think I’m going to put a to do list at the end of all my entries from now on (or until I get bored with it and stop doing it) to help hold myself accountable, and also track my progress. Sometimes I forget how MUCH I get done, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time.

Matt found another potential ho

use in his searches. This one is….hmm, mostly ugly on the outside. But the inside is newly updated in wonderful ways, and the price is SO right. It’s a little bit smaller than I wanted, but It does have all the minimum criteria. The crazy part, is it’s on the same street as CJ & April (matt’s brother & sister in law). That part is nice because well….we like them. And, they live in a good neighborhood that has lots of kids & decent schools. But we’ll see. Matt originally said we were going to wait on our tax return before getting serious and hunting down a realtor, but now he’s kind of getting jazzed and wants to check the ones out that stand out to us. I’m MORE….MOOOOORE than ready for a house. I’m just, so desperate to have my own space again and a place to get back to growing my family.

anyway. i’m getting myself TOTALLY distracted by looking at houses now. So, I’m gonna go do that for a bit and then get on my to do list.

edit;

isn’t it hilarious? the things you find house hunting?

like…this:

WTF…………is that.

Why? WHY???? And the GREEN deck on the BLUE house? Who’s idea was this?! Who thought the perfect way to accent a mismatched deck would be to throw up a half-of-a-brick wall and slap on a creepy lion-man-face that spits water into a pond made by a 2 year old?

OH GOOD. They provided a close up.
