Outwitting Writer’s Block

In a sudden burst of inspiration, I drove to Barnes & Noble and picked up Outwitting Writer’s Block and Other Problems of the Pen by Jenna Glatzer. From the very first sentence I knew I absolutely loved her. Although she doesn’t have quite the descriptive capabilites as some Penguins I know, she has managed to sneak some life into the parts of my brain I long thought to have withered away. Throughout each chapter she stops suddenly to provide you with a prompt or an exercise. One prompt had me facing more writer’s block than when I’d initially picked up the book! That is where you step in. I have decided to cheat a bit. The prompt said: What did you character’s mother tell her never to do? Write about the first time she broke that rule.

I can not think of a single solitary thing that my mother told me to never do. Of course, had the question not been posed to me I could easily compile a list long enough to paper the walls of my apartment. Hmmm…in writing this I think I have found the rule my character has broken. She smoked. But I’m still curious…what did you mother tell you to never do?

I’m honestly really not sure. She told me never to follow the crowd, and I stuck to that most of my life, and all the time now. Never go along with what others are doing just because you can’t think for yourself. I don’t think that’s quite what you’re asking, though. I didn’t smoke or drink or anything like that. RYN: No, I don’t. I haven’t looked at them actually. Maybe I should? 🙂

“Never hook up that many batteries to it again!” (I put some batteries connected to a motor and the motor spazed from all the power and the wire actually caught on fire for a brief moment 🙂 )

Of course you count as a friend! Well, with only one requirement first- you may have told me, but i dont remember, but what is your real name? I feel a bit odd saying “my friend sourapple, cause i dont know her name” 🙂 if you dont mind that is, just a first name or nickname. I think you already know, but i’m Garret 🙂 so there, we’ve met, so we’re friends 🙂

Well to answer your question, Masturbate. But guess I never listened to my mother anyways. My mother still thinks I’m an angel. *giggles* Oh and don’t feel bad about falling for the trap, cause I did too. *blushes*. Oh and thanks for the compliment. (Or at least I will take it as a compliment). I have a headache, so I will make this short .. as it is time for a nap to try to get rid of it.

Oh yes .. one last thing. I approved your request for my photo album. Let me know if you like any of the photos (they are almost all at least a year old, before I started to get into shape. I will someday have time to take some new ones.) or if you have any requests. There is also a spot for people to add their own pics .. so don’t be shy. Actually you would be the first.

never fall to peer pressure…. yea… broke that one many times. i smoke, lost my viriginity, DID drugs, all kinds of stupid shit

Some penguins you know, eh? ::grins:: Know what I do? I always use word association. For instance, if I see a Penguin, I associate it with: nuns, black, white, ice, beaks (which I associate with pecking, sharpness, vomit [which I associate with…]). I also enjoy prefixes and suffixes (like mall security = insecurity). The weirdness flows from there. I never have writers block 😉

not to do drugs, broke that one and threw it out the window. No smoking too. Man my mom is bossy. 🙂
