The Bachelor

I hate to admit it, but I think ABC’s The Bachelor saved my relationship. Last night was the first good conversation I’ve had with Boyfriend in quite some time. Even before last week’s blow-out our conversations had a lot of underlying tension and were altogether uncomfortable. As you know, we talked the other night but things were still pretty much left hanging. I had planned to put off contacting him again until Saturday. Naturally I was shocked to hear his ringer coming through on me cell phone last night. He was calling because he saw that it was The Bachelor season finale and he wanted us both to watch it. Apparently he had seen something on a commercial that struck a cord with him. He wanted us to take a look at the way others handle relationships and the idea of marriage. It was two hours long and he couldn’t stay up for the whole thing, but he did watch the first half and he called me on every commercial break. We even laughed together! I couldn’t believe it. It’s amazing how the person who can bring you the highest highs is also the person who can bring you the lowest lows. In my experience, is has always worked that way. I’m just grateful that last night was a high. I really needed it.

He told me that he hasn’t been eating so I think this afternoon I will call him to see if he wants me to bring him lunch. I would have shyed away from the prospect before, but I feel as if we’re on much better grounds now and it won’t be as much an intrusion. Plus, I will be near his work, which I’m normally not. If he chooses not to accept the food, thats fine. But it is important to me that he know I’m willing to do things for him.
