Embrace the Suck
As well as my phone interview(s) went last week, it did not result in me being called in for a follow up interview. *sigh* It is what it is. I’m actually not all that disappointed. Suddenly things seems to not be so bad here at my current job. I think the let down for me is in the fact that I’m still going to have to commute and have a restricted schedule at certain times of the year. I’m going to keep looking, but I’m not going to stress on it at this point. My yearly review was completed last week, and I should be finding out hopefully this week whether or not the request for my raise was approved. She said she didn’t see why it would be, so fingers crossed that she’s right.
I’ve started going to Cross Fit. I’m pretty sure I mentioned this in one of my last two entries. Needless to say, I decided that Cross Fit three times a week wasn’t cutting it. So what do I do? I go and propose a fitness challenge here in my department. For the next 6 weeks, 12 people in my department will be climbing as many flights of stairs during the work day as we can. We are in an 8 story building, but only on the 2nd floor. Starting today, we have all started clambering up to the 8th floor before work, during our breaks, and on our lunches to try and get a jump on the flights of stairs that we can climb. OY! I’m excited to see the results for myself, but now that it’s a competition, pressure is on!
So far today, I’ve climbed 9 flights. I’m about to take my lunch in 5 minutes though, and God willing, I will be able to climb 21 flights within the next hour. It sucks, but I guess my motto right now is "Embrace the suck." which is also the motto of Cross Fit. Wish me luck!
random noter: whoa 9 flights of stairs? that is nuts. i dont know what cross fit is but i think ive seen signs for classes in it. good luck getting your raise 🙂

That’s so awesome that you got your coworkers involved! It’s always easier when you’re not doing something like that alone! 🙂
