It’s Okay to Just Ask Sometimes

There’s nothing to do.  It’s Friday, 12:13 p.m. and there is NOTHING to do.  That basically means that I will be sitting her for the next 5 hours and 45 minutes staring mindlessly at my computer screen.  I have a book… this one:

It won’t last me anywhere close to 6 hours though.  In fact since I’ve already started it and I’m almost finished with it, it probably won’t even last me an hour.  The book itself is wonderful.  It’s very spiritually uplifting, and I’ve taken a lot in from it.  I would recommend it to anyone who is spiritually looking for more in there lives.

So I’m done with the whole fiasco with my ear.  For the time being anyway.  I went in for a final doctor’s appointment on Tuesday morning.  They told me that I could stop packing the incision, and to finish out my antibiotics which she did happen to extend an additional week.  Get this.  I wasn’t even taking the right amount.  I’m such a ditz sometimes.  The bottle specifically states to take 3 pills 3 times a day.  Was I doing that?  Nope… I was taking one pill three times a day.  I didn’t really think anything of it because that was basically what I was doing with the other antibiotic.  So now I’m back on track.

I will be having surgery on March 25 to remove the "pit" that causes the reoccurring infection.  It’s a good thing.  I’ve never really had surgery before though with the exception of some oral stuff that I had to endure as a kid.  I thank God that He got me through this infection, and I know that He will be with me through the surgery as well.

In other news, Jacob and I are sitting in a financial rut right now.  We never have any money.  We are constantly behind on rent.  Always picking and choosing which bills will get paid and which we can hold off just a bit longer.  I’m sure it’s the same story with many families these days, but a good portion of our situation is our own fault.  We took his mom’s advice one time (bad idea) and got paycheck advances.  Since then they have snowballed out of control.  We used them a lot when Jacob was out of work, but since then we haven’t ever really been able to get out of the debt that we put ourselves into because of them.  We are constantly renewing the loans because we can’t afford to just pay them off.  We came to the conclusion that the only way that we were going to really get out of this snafu would be to find somebody who could help us pay them off completely and then make one much smaller payment to that person until everything was paid off.

There was only one person in our families that I could think of that really would have any chance of helping us out.  So I bit the bullet and gave my dad a call.  I hate the fact that the only time that I really talk to my dad is through email forwards, maybe a hello around a holiday or birthday, or when I need something.  I very rarely really ever need something simply because I hate asking anybody for anything, but this was the only solution we could come up with.  So I left him a message on his voicemails yesterday, and by later that morning he had emailed me.  I hadn’t mentioned why I was calling in my message, but when he emailed me he asked if there was something he could help with.  I was glad to see that he was already willing to do something.  LOL

So I gave him the rundown of our situation.  To my surprise, he didn’t seem to think that we were sitting so bad.  In fact he said that he thinks we are doing okay considering all circumstances.  He mentioned that when he and mom were first married that they were pretty much in the same boat and that is pretty much how life is for most people with the exception of those that have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

I told him that I wouldn’t ask him for a flat amount simply because no matter what I asked for I felt it would be entirely too much.  If I would have asked for what we need it would have been in the ballpark of around $2000.  So when he wrote back again, he said that he can come up with $1000.  I couldn’t complain in the least.  It’s way more than what Jacob and I can come up with, and in all honesty it could pay off 3 of our loans.  We are thinking that we will probably pay of 2 of the loans though and put the remainder of the money to other bills that HAVE to be paid this month.  It’s progress, and that’s all I can ask for.  Hopefully when we get taxes back, we will be able to get caught up on everything else and from there on out live life with our lessons learned.  At least when it comes to throwing our money away like that.  Once we get all these stupid loans paid off, it will save us $450 each month.  That savings in itself will be sufficient in getting us caught up on other bills.  I’m really excited to get out of this hole.

I know that once all is said and done, there is always going to be something that comes up.  But I also know that God is going to take care of our needs.  He puts people in our lives for a reason.  He tells us to be humble for a reason.  Because when it comes to having too much pride, you end up in a situation where you are in over your head simply because you don’t want to ask for help.  I’m done with that.

Well, I suppose I’ll go ahead and finish my book.  I’ve fallen a bit behind on my reading plan with my bible as well, so I’ll be able to get caught up on that as well.  I like the fact that I’m able to zone out on what is going on around me and still be able to concentrate when I’m reading my bible.  I know ideally it’s best to read in silence, but sometimesI just don’t have that silent time available.

5 hours and 12 minutes until I can go home for the weekend.

Hopefully the rest of the day goes fast. I’m glad your dad was able to help you out. It’s sad how the loans in our country work. You can never get ahead.
