Gratitude

I had another doctor’s appointment for my ear this morning.  The doctor was finally pleased with the progress my ear has made over the past couple of days.  I’m so thankful that I’m almost finished with it all.  God has provided me with a great deal of strength to overcome the pain of the situation.  He’s been there to hold my hand when I’ve need Him most.

Jacob has done a great job in helping to change the dressing on my ear each day.  I would have been really hard up if it wasn’t for his love and care over the past two weeks.  Now hopefully only a few more days and I’ll be able to move on with life.

Rosie brought D.J. to work with her today.  It was fun having the little guy around.  He is a good kid and was very well behaved all day.  I spent some time coloring with him and playing video games.  He helped me out when I was stapling exams together.  =)

Lani comes back to work on Monday.  It will be nice to get back to a normal workload again.  Not that the workload has been overwhelming.  Our days will probably be even more relaxed now though.  We were the number one office in the whole region this past year.  It’s always nice to be acknowledged for the work that we do.

I’m going to do my best to read my bible from start to finish using the year long reading plan outlined in the back of the book.  They say that it takes 30 days to start a good habit and 30 days to break a bad habit.  I hope that after 30 days of reading the bible a little bit every day, it will become a habit that I just do without thinking about it.  I’m always more at peace when I find time to read and complete my devotionals.

Luann sent me such a beautiful note in the mail today.  In case I ever misplace the card, I’ll type what she wrote here so I can have it always.

     Dear Jamie,
As I’m reflecting on the past year, I’m so grateful to the Lord for you and how you’ve enriched my life this year.
I’ve loved having you in our small group Bible Studies and having you embrace Mirielle and all of the refugees.
Your heart for the Lord and your desire to grow and serve Him truly blesses me.
                                                                                                                   Thank you!  I love you,
                                                                                                                                         Luann

How awesome is that?  I can’t say that I’ve ever really received a note like that from anyone.  Luann is my pastor’s wife.  We’ve grown very close over the past few months, and I feel that I can turn to her whenever I need somebody to talk to.  She is an inspiration to me.  I am also so very grateful to have her in my life.  I’d like to send her a note as well, but don’t want her to think it’s only because she sent me one.  I’ll definitely send her a message letting her know that I received the card though and how special she has made me feel.
