Holiday Update
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I’m a little late on the Christmas part, but the Happy New Year is yet to come. =) It was brought to my attention that I haven’t updated for awhile. And considering that I was telling one of my faves that it would suck if she wasn’t able to update as often, I figure I’m a fine one to talk. I log on to OD EVERYDAY and still only update once every few weeks. LOL Shame on me. Some things will never change I guess.
So not much else is really new I guess. Christmas was nice. We were going to rent a car to drive up to see Jacob’s family. I reserved the car online. The price seemed good. So we get to the car rental place to pick up the car and I notice a sign that says "If you are renting a car using your debit card, you will be charged an additional $300 deposit that will be returned upon the return of the car." FUCK THAT! They could have posted that on the website. Somewhere where it would be noticeable too. It may well be on there, but I didn’t see it when I was reserving the car.
We ended up NOT renting the car because of the fact that we are already BROKE and couldn’t afford to wait for them to reimburse the $300 once we brought the car back. So we ended up driving the tank after a few hours of deliberating whether we should chance it or not. We filled up the truck which surprisingly only cost about $60, and were on our way. The truck did well. We stopped at the half way point and filled it up with water to make sure that it wouldn’t overheat like it did LAST year on our way up to his family’s for Christmas. Luckily we didn’t have any real issues other than the fact that we were unsure on how we were going to pay for gas to get back home on Monday. LOL
We had a nice time with Jacob’s family though. Nothing too spectaculour/exciting happened. Just nice and relaxing time away from home. We ended up getting his sister a digital camera for Christmas. She seemed to really like it. And we gave his mom one gift basket with Bailey’s Irish Creme and his brother Zane the other gift basket with wine. LOL I know it’s kind of cheap of us to regift the prizes we won, BUT when you are as broke as we are, we had to figure out something.
Jacob ended up bringing home practically a new wardrobe. LOL He got a lot of really REALLY nice clothes, including a new leather jacket. He also got a new PS2 game call Gun. That game is so cool. Lots of fun! We have been playing it quite a bit since we have been back. I ended up getting a few nice clothes as well. Some shirts and stuff. Like I said… nothing too spectaculor, BUT I am thankful for what I did receive. Jacob also ended up getting a $100 gift card to Safeway, so we are good on groceries for awhile. =) And his Nana gave each of us a $25 gas card to the Shell station, which allowed us to make it home on Monday. =)
When we got back home, I had a letter waiting for me from my dad. He sent me the forms that I need to fill out for our DJ for the wedding dance. OMG! It is getting closer and closer! My dad is going to pay for the DJ for us. He has already paid the deposit, and all we have to do is let the DJ know what kind of music we want played. My dad also included a check for $100 for my Christmas present. YAY for that!! It will help us scrape by for the next couple of weeks so that we can scrape by some more until I get paid on the 7th. Then we will be scraping by again until I get paid AGAIN on the 22nd.
I guess I may have forgot to mention that Jacob lost his job. If I did mention it though, I guess I’m mentioning it again. LOL It just really sucks because it is the end of the year and not many places are hiring right now. So starting next week I’m going request that he really buckle down and get his butt in gear and get a job. He wants me to help him make his resume tonight, so I guess I better do that if he thinks that is all that is stopping him from getting a job. I’m hoping that he may actually be able to get his old job back at the place he was just laid off at. Hopefully he will find something soon though. We are extremely way too tight on money. And considering that we are coming down to the last months before the wedding, this is not a good thing. Very bad timing to not have a job. I’m not going to dwell on it though otherwise I will just start to stress and get pissed off. And that’s when we start fighting and bickering.
We don’t really have much of anything planned for New Year’s Eve this year. Jacob’s friend wanted us to come up and go to Tahoe with him and his wife. But considering our money situation, I just don’t think it’s in th works this year. Guess we’ll have to see if anything else comes up. If not, then looks like we will be spending it at home. Oh well… at least we won’t be spending any money that way. =)
On that note, I better get to gettin’. I have work to do. What else is new there though… I ALWAYS have work to do. LOL I’m good at putting things off though. =) Oh yeah… I remember what else I was going to include. I was just going through my pics on my computer, and was going to include this pic of Jacob. Not sure if I ever posted it or not. He’s so cute though! Gotta love him! =)
