Road Trip

I’m not looking forward to this trip at all.  What trip? you ask…  well some how Jacob and I got suckered into helping his grandma move from San Jose up to Redding.  4-5 hours away from here.  I DO NOT WANT TO GO!!!  =(

I may sound like a selfish bitch, but I absolutely HATE moving let alone moving somebody else.  She just sold her house this last month… a house that she’s lived in for 31 years.  So imagine moving 31 years worth of posessions (sp?).  You feeling my pain yet?

So Jacob is riding in the moving truck with his step-dad (more on him later in the entry), and I have to drive his grandmother’s car because she hasn’t driven on the freeway in something like 15 years.  5 HOURS with Nana.  =(  Please pray for me.  LOL

Don’t get me wrong, we do get a long for the most part.  She is a nice lady (most of the time), but she also knows just how to get her digs in.  And there’s nothing you can say back to her because she’s Nana.  5 HOURS.

So we will get up there sometime today… they aren’t going to start unloading the truck until tomorrow though.  THEN… we are driving back in the moving van with Jacob’s step-dad tomorrow afternoon too.  Another 5 HOURS.

THEN… here comes the icing in the cake.  Jacob’s step-dad has been living with Nana in order to keep his job.  Jacob’s mom lives up north near Redding and close to where Nana is moving.  His step-dad couldn’t move up there with her due to the fact that he needed to stay with his job, which is why he was staying with Nana.  Well now that Nana is moving up north too, Ray (step-dad) doesn’t have anywhere to stay.  So guess who’s moving in TEMPORARILY with us?  Yep… that’s right.

I’m SO NOT looking forward to this.  I think it’s ridiculous that we have been sucked into this whole situation.  Because in the end, come the beginning of May, he is going to be quitting his job and moving up north as well.  I don’t understand WHY he doesn’t just do it now.

So Jacob and I talked about what we thought would be appropriate compensation for letting Ray stay here.  We decided on $400 for 7 weeks.  Not bad if you ask me.  So INSTEAD of Jacob telling Ray what WE had decided on, he asks RAY what he thinks is FAIR.  Ray says…  $350.  Ummm…  what happened to the $400 that we agreed on?  I wasn’t going to press the situation at that time because Jacob was on the phone with me right in front of Ray, so I just said fine.

I’m NOT happy about it.  AT ALL.  So I told Jacob, that HE has to talk to the apartment manager to make sure that it’s okay with her that Ray stays with us for a month and a half.  I have a feeling that she’s not going to go for it without having him added to the lease.  I’m just going to keep my mouth shut about it now though.  I’m frustrated to the max about the situation, but I’m not going to make it worse by throwing a fit about it.

So there’s a brief update of what’s going on.  I’m gonna lay down an snooze for a bit before we have to leave for this “road trip”.  Hope everyone has a better weekend than I think I’m gonna have.
