Time to get people fired up.

What better way to start things up, then with a rant over something controversial.  While thinking of something that would piss most people off, i had to come up with something that almost everyone i know disagrees with.  After working in my lab for countless days, i finally came up with something that everyone loves, but annoyed me.  I welcome your negative comments, though it would be cool if someone would back me up.

Todays annoyance:

Batman: The Dark Knight.

Wait a minute.  Isn’t that the movie that everyone loved? and raved about for months? and watched over and over in honor of Heath Ledger?  How dare someone comment badly on such art!

First of all, i liked Batman The Dark Knight. This is not a hate rant.  But was it mind blowing? Changing my views on cinematography? Does it make me want to be Batman?  No.  Was it entertaining? Mildly.  I did not like it as much as Batman Begins, or the Michael Keaton Batmans.  Ledger did a spectacular job, and his death was indeed tragic.  But i have two qualms with the film.

1) It was way longer then it needed to be.  About two hours in i was getting bored as hell.  Because of this, i have no desire to watch it ever again.  Two face was completely unnessecary, and it seemed to drag on for no good reason.

2) This is my biggest hang up with the movie.  Bales awful Batman voice!  Every time he spoke, i wanted to cut out his voicebox rendering him mute.  I know he was trying to sound tough, but he came off sounding like an idiot.  Some have defended saying that he had to talk that way to disguise his bruce wayne voice.  That is a good point, however, if that was the case, then why does he talk to Alfred ,who knows full well his identity, like he has been constipated for the last month?  And he doesnt stop.  He uses it through the whole movie, making all his lines lose any meaning.

That being said, it’s still a good movie.  I dont regret seeing it, and of course it destroys many other batman films such as the one starring arnold.  God, that was a bad movie.  I just dont understand why everyone went so nutzo over it.  I think it has to do with Heath Ledgers death.  Luckily his acting will live on in such films as Brokeback Mountain and Knights Tale.

I think i just shuddered.

1. agree 2. agree but you didn’t like a knights tale?! that movie was awesome! how dare you knock it!

i am in full agreement on both counts. the first ferry boat scene was the first real “oh man you have GOT to be kidding me” moment. way too long. and apparently bale has smoked for 157 years rendering him perma-rasp.

Agree on neither point, but respect your position. I really wanted to hate that movie. I swear I was close to being the last person to see it in the universe, and it was all I heard about. Then I watched it on my computer by myself with a bad downloaded copy (shudder), and I liked all of it. Bales voice sucked, but I appreciated that I thought of him as “Batman” and “Bruce” instead of “Bale”.

I have to agree with you on both! Even the best movies today are too long!
